Drive-by check-in and fangirling from blizzard country

Feb 10, 2013 04:24

Spent about two hours or so shoveling my way into my driveway last night/this morning after spending two days at work. There was no point to trying to drive home in the storm Friday night, and it was just as well to have an extra nurse in the house Saturday morning, as one fellow was six hours late due to his vehicle embedding itself in a snowbank ( Read more... )

Your friend is more than welcome to take my "privilige" to drive in life-threatening weather. See my post re Friday's storm. http://tudorpot.livejournal.com/383579.html

Yeah, once she thought it through, she realized that was an incredibly stupid thing to say. Even her mega-truck, and she does drive one, would likely have gotten stuck in this mess. The only reason my craptastic Chevy didn't is that I headed in before things reached blizzard conditions and didn't attempt to leave until it was well over and the main roads were cleared.

Of course, once it was clear that both 11-7 nurses had arrived last night, I was all, "I want my own bed now!" and thus the driving home and shoveling at midnight.

WHAT, omg! Best Arrow casting spoiler since I learned Katie Cassidy was attached to the project. Given who JB is playing and who I'm BETTING AK will play, it would be a massive plot twist if they did have scenes together (epic whoa-level twist, imo), but otoh that really makes me want to see it happen.

...And JB has been very good on Arrow so far, I've thought. Like, last couple of things I saw him in, he looked tired and gave me vibes of phoning it in, but he pretty much nails it in this one. Glad you're enjoying the show for its own sake, too. (I am as well; feels nice.)

Sympathies for the snowfall issues; stay safe & cozy!

IKR? I have thoughts on who AK would be playing too. Because this show is all about, "Hey, you thought this was true? Guess what, it's not!" Which would mean they would have to have scenes together, potentially sniping at each other, which would be awesome ( ... )

YESSS. That and seeing It's So Good To Be Bad Merlyn sniping at anyone would be awesome; because it is. =D I also wish we saw more of him, and I'm hoping we're moving just a bit in that direction despite the necessity of his being on the fringes. On the upside, having him in as such a formidable nemesis on two fronts at once should, I hooope, ensure his longevity across the seasons.

Katie Cassidy = Laurel. During my brief but very intense affair with Supernatural, she played an interesting, complicated and generally badass demon (known to fandom as Ruby One), and she was a delight. Cue giganto girlcrush, basically. Granted, I can't say I've been overwhelmed with feelings for the character so far, but she's why I first tuned in, and it's her first post-SPN project I could get into.

Mmmm, hot chocolate + cozy indoors = best way to confront white stuff happenings.

Oh! See, I knew I recognized her, but could not for the life of me place where. Now I know it was probably SPN memes/icons/whatever that I've scrolled past. (The only episode I ever watched was The Fanfiction Episode.)

Her character has tons of potential, and we got a glimpse of it in this last episode, I think. Otherwise, for a lawyer, she has surprisingly little agency so far. Hoping for more of the badass, spit-in-the-bad-guy's-face Laurel in future eps.

Oh, I would love it if he got multiple seasons. *nods* *crosses fingers*

Actually, the formula I've been using is dark hot chocolate + Bailey's Irish Cream + Kahlua = Snow? What snow? :-D

I love that Arrow is doing so much casting of genre actors--there's also been Ben Browder, Paul Blackthorne of course, an actress I recognized from Sanctuary, probably others I'm forgetting. Everybody wins, the actors get work, we get happy to see them again and watch the show :-)

I have to admit that I've never heard of Arrow, but now I will definitely have to check it out.

Especially if JB and possibly the person mentioned in your spoiler are in it.

I don't know much about the original Green Arrow to know how much this diverges, but it's been pretty good so far. Hope you enjoy it!

So happy you were able to stay safe. And your friend - *lol*. Sometimes words bypass the editor in the brain and are off the tongue so quickly we hear them at the same time the other person does. ;-)

Thanks. Yes, I think she was kind of embarrassed once she thought it through. LOL
