The minute I started reading this, I flashed back to the movie "I Know my First Name is Steven", which is the story of Steven Stayner. OMG, but stuff like this happened a hell of a lot more than people knew. Your fic kept me up reading until 6 am, so I've been a total mess all day (2 hrs of sleep before a 20 mile biking trail ride equals DISASTER). That movie mesmerized me when it came out, and won Emmy awards for its actors, but what I could not get over was the absolute faith that Steven had that he DESERVED the abuse, that his parents did not want him and gave him to a man to abuse. Your fic is awesome. I can't wait to see how it ends.

Oooh, I'm sorry you rode 20 miles on a bike with 2 hours of sleep, but I'm still really glad you liked the story so much!

I've never seen the movie, but I have heard of it (the grown up Stayner actually had a cameo in it, I think). I don't know if it's available anywhere now, but it's certainly one I'm interested in. I'll have to keep an eye out for it.

His attitude towards the abuse really got to me too, when I read about his case. I've known a lot of people who had abandonment issues growing up and the idea that a kid would be faced with what he sees as inescapable proof that his family has given up on him, and what that did to his ability to tell someone he was being hurt, really upset me. It's like every child's worst nightmare, and then to add physical and sexual abuse on top of it?

*shudder*

Anyhow, thank you again for reading, and I should have the final part posted in the next couple days.

I can't load the next chapter :(, LJ says there is an error, it's the same for all of part 5, but the epilogue works. Have you got this fic up somewhere else? I NEED THIS LIKE I NEED AIR!!! Im seriously in love with this story and am dying because it wont load D:
