Okay, so I just saw it, and it exceeded my expectations, and while they were low, I still enjoyed this. As in, it was mostly all great, with just a couple of things that I was unsure on. My review of part 1 is here.
firefly-class.livejournal.com/1041.htmlJust like before, gonna go through it as I watch (although this time I'm writing as I watch the second time, rather than both)
'This was the day the Time Lords returned.' *cue Doctor Who music* Epic.
Wicked, the Doctor chose to destroy the Time Lords and the Daleks, he wasn't ordered too. (What's with the psychic women? She seems a little insane... well, I guess that makes sense.
I love how the second that the Time Lord guy says that the two left are going to be enemies, the President knows that it's going to be the Doctor and the Master.
Yeah, crazy women, he heard the first time, you don't have to keep repeating it. 'Earth, Earth, Earth'
-Cut to the Doctor tied up and gagged in a chair- *a billion bondage Master/Doctor fics spring into being*
(Side note, but the Master suddenly looks like a women. I think he's wearing eyeliner.)
Awww! Wilf would be proud if the Doctor was his son.
Lol, 'You don't understand. Everyone on this planet is me. And I'm not phoning you, so who the hell is that?'
Why doesn't Wilf just tell Donna to put the phone down? Surely that makes more sense. Also, it must have taken so long to film such short scenes, because John Simm had to wear like a billion outfits in each one.
YEAH! DONNA KICKS ARSE!
The dialogue between the Master and the Doctor is marvelous. A little bit on the gay side maybe- (AND THAT IS NOT A HOMOPHOBIC COMMENT) but still genius.
'You don't need to own the universe, just see it. To see the whole of time and space- that's ownership enough.' - Do I feel a song coming on?
'Come roll in all the riches all around you,
and for once never wonder what they're worth.' ~ Colours of the Wind- Pocahontas
Emotions from the Master- woah. Also, imho, I really dislike it when they show the Master as a child and what happens when he is one. I prefer the mystery.
Okay, so then it gets confusing. The Time Lords hear about the Master's sound inside his head, realise what it could be used for then fix it so that it happens in the past. So they cause something that they've heard about because they did it which meant they heard about it so they did it? I sort of get it, but if someone else is able to clarify in simpler means, I would be very grateful.
Woah, the Master slapped the Doctor, awesome.
God, those catus people are very, very annoying.
'God bless the cactus people!'
'That's Cacti'
'That's racist.'
Dammit, they're annoying. They do not know what they're doing, you should ALWAYS LISTEN TO THE DOCTOR.
And now he's blowing up their ship, that'll show 'em.
See, I always thought that all the Time Lords died and then that event was time locked, not just that all of the Time Lords were time locked.
That women again. I want to know who she is. Oh, bad thought- what if she's supposed to be an old Rose Tyler? No, I take it back, that is way too stupid. Maybe Romana?
Surely the Everyone-is-the-Master thing shouldn't work on dead people? Like, oh never mind, I couldn't explain it.
906? I thought he was 945? Did I just make that number up.
Awwwwwww! He'd be proud if Wilf was his dad. Makes the end really symbolic then doesn't it?
Okay, you can't refuse something when an old man offers it to you like that. He doesn't want you to die. He's trying to do you a favour.
'This is the hour where either Gallifrey falls, or Gallifrey rises!' When it's put like that, who would choose the first one?
The Doctor looks so pathetic lying on the floor, it's so horrible. I'm not used to the Doctor being helpless, the Doctor has to be able to save everyone. Okay, so he does, but I don't like thinking that he might not be able too. That is not a good feeling.
Lol at the Master when the the Doctor is trying to tell the Time Lords of his plans. He's like 'Hey! No, hey! Hush. I want to tell you of my plan.'
So it's the President who changes everyone back, I guess that's pretty good. Way better than what I had expected anyway. No turning back time or foolish mind wipes.
And Donna's fiance tries to find her! He's so sweet. I fully approve.
At the time I was like 'Yay Wilf' when he let that guy out, but now it's heartbreaking that he does.
The Time Lords are really very twisted. They want to destroy everything so that they can ascend into glory. Also, they're not that smart. Don't insult the Master. Or the Doctor for that matter, but the Master is more likely to kill you.
(Side note: I think that John Simm is wearing mascara, not eyeliner actually)
WHO IS THAT WOMEN? His mother? Or maybe Susan? That would be creepy actually, if because of your regenerations your granddaughter ended up looking older than you.
And as evil as he is, THE MASTER KICKS ARSE. You kill the President. Take him down.
No, this bit is almost too sad. He thinks that he's cheated death then he sees Wilf. Or rather, hears him knocking. David Tennants acting is amazing in this section. His anger, but almost acceptance because he knows what's coming. And poor Wilf, who doesn't know what to say.
Although I loved this scene, I was sorta waiting for him to die. I mean, I knew that Russel T. Davis was going to have the time of his life saying goodbye to all the characters and stuff, but by the point where the Doctor steps out of the machine still as David Tennant, I was worried that he was going to die by stepping outside and getting run over, or something as equally silly.
Gah, when I saw Martha I literally groaned out loud. I really don't like her. Also, does anyone else find it amusing that she's married to Mickey, who dated Rose. First she's second best to the Doctor, and then to Mickey. I image that anytime someone says the name 'Rose' she has a breakdown.
The Sarah Jane bit was sweet though. How she sees him and just knows what's going to happen.
Also, wtf was with Jack's present? The Doctor found him a boyfriend? I don't even know anymore. I love how Jack just pretends that he's psychic.
The bit with the women was sweet though, when he asked if she was happy, but then can't answer the same question.
I liked the end with the young Rose though, with how the Doctor promised her a great year. It made me smile loads. I really have to re watch the first season again.
The end though. The Doctor did not go out well. 'I don't want to go' was a pretty heartbreaking line. Usually the Doctor accepts it, or even embraces it. I think that's why the Tardis crashed though- because the Doctor was so against his death.
I'm going to attempt to post this on the Doctor Who community now, but I don't know whether it'll work, I've never done it before. I don't even know if I'm allowed to be honest, but it's worth a shot.
Allons-y!
The spell check is very annoying today. IF I SET YOU TO ENGLISH (UK) YOU'RE NOT SUPPOSED TO TELL ME THAT COLOUR ISN'T A WORD!
