Round Two: Challenge Five Voting!

Jun 30, 2007 23:43

This is it, the final show down! Congrats to both these authors for doing an awesome job and writing incredible drabbles! Hopefully you took something out of this as well. :)

Voters, good luck, as always. Just vote for the drabble you like best and please give a reason.

The challenge this weeks was: 'Serenity' and 'wish'

Good luck!

Happy Canada Day. *waves flag*

1. Serenity sat in the moonlight, the charred remains of her hull sending up an eerie plume of smoke. She looked like a ghost ship. Worse than after that battle with the Reavers--all those years ago.

Mal couldn't remember anyone who'd saved them more often. She'd held together just long enough to see to that one last time.

"I wish there was somethin' we could do for her, Cap'n."

Mal put his arm around her.

"So do I, li'l Kaylee, so do I. But we gotta let her go now."

Though how he was gonna do that, he didn't know.

2. The lovers would find their way, eventually, while the widow would gently hope. And her doctors, mending flesh and metal alike (when their hands weren't otherwise busy), would make them whole. Her new pilot, seated next to the ghost of the old (never in his chair, for it will always be his chair) would guide them all with sure hand. Their protector would remember the voice of their father, and he would be glad.

Bird and bear and hare and fish, she'd grant them all their fondest wish.

Through love and time she would be their home again.
