 Happy birthday, Oromin!

Labor Day weekend has been really rather uneventful. From my perspective and with my school schedule, it and Memorial Day have to be the most worthlessly timed holidays on the calendar. With the first, I have been in school all of seven days and do not in any way, shape, or form need a break, and in fact rather resented it ( Read more... )

Actually Memorial and Labor Day are rather nice to me, but I don't go to school and only work, so I don't have that odd break-up of my schedule.

I think that schools should simply make their schedules around the holidays. End right before/on Memorial Day and begin right after Labor Day. I mean, that doesn't seem so hard to me, I don't know why they don't do it that way.

I agree.

I'm sure that I will appreciate the holidays much more once I'm out of school - from a total year standpoint, they are kind of nice, since there really aren't many holidays those times of the year.

I'm fairly certain that Pride and Prejudice and Anne of Green Gables are the books I've re-read the most. It's been a while since I re-read... ever since I started working at the library I've never been in want of new reading material.

The last thing I re-read was Coraline, but I've just recently bought American Gods and intend to re-read that, plus Stardust.

Thank you so much! :D *hugs*

I must agree with your literary taste on everything but Lord of the Flies. I was not such a fan of that book...

It's a strange book... but something about it appeals to me. Maybe it was just that I was drawn to such an appreciation of it by my 8th grade English teacher.

By the way, I love that icon - I've noticed it before and never said anything...

Isn't it great? I used to have a longer one that showed Elizabeth's reactions while reading the letter saved on my computer, but it got lost (along with all my other pictures!) when I got my new laptop. :( They're both by tea_box, so I guess you could check out their journal if you're interested.

although I do not intend to endeavor Leviticus, say, again anytime soon.

But Leviticus has so much good stuff. XD
Actually, I find Leviticus quite interesting (in bite sized chunks) for understanding the actions of Jesus and the Pharisees. Parables like the Good Samaritan start to make more sense (the use of oil and wine! Jesus' audience would have just said 'LOL!'). But yes, as a book on its own it can be a little overwhelming. I don't envy the Jewish children who have to learn it off by heart.

Oh, I'm not undermining it's worth in any way! But reading it straight through gets rather dry, and understanding as you suggest doesn't usually come on its own (for me, anyway) - it's usually someone else who points things out to me.
