ooh, this is very interesting. I think a little bit of editing and perhaps more show and less tell would be a good idea. "Even though during the war even the slytherin had helped out in the defeat of voldemort, there was still a strong animosity between the gryffindors and the slytherins." it throws off the feeling a bit, that sentence. I hope that helps though.
