Although the news is a week old now, I'd like to report my great delight at hearing that Alastair Galbraith has been made an
artist laureate by the Arts Foundation of New Zealand.
Galbraith was interviewed by Kim Hill on Natrad this morning. He said he wants to spend some of his prize money on building a glass harmonium - an instrument invented by Benjamin Franklin that reportedly has provoked insanity and been banned in Germany. (To get around the instrument's stigma, he is going to call his a "glass armonium".)
Heheh... I was reassured that it took Alastair some time to appreciate the Clean because it took me long enough to come to appreciate Alastair's own music. I'd like very much to see him play again: it's been years.
