Rethread everything, top and bottom, and start again, leaving a nice long tail on the bobbin. So many gnarled machine problems are simply a problem with threading, and simply doing it over from the beginning takes care of it. (I'm so glad you're sewing!)

Thank you. I rethreaded everything, and I think the problem is that I'm doing something wrong installing the bobbin. My needle won't bring up the bobbin thread!

(I would be glad, too, if I was actually sewing! ;)

Yay!!!!

I don't know what my initial threading problem was, but the reason that the bobbin thread wouldn't be picked up was for the very simple reason that when I re-threaded, I neglected the final step of actually threading the eye of the needle!!!!
