Ferrets combine the best attributes of cats and domestic rats - you can keep them in cages, they are sweet and adorable and housebreakable, they are both inquisitive and acquisitive, they're very cuddly and affectionate, and they rarely bite. About their only defect is that they can be stinky. Even descented, you MUST keep them clean or they will stink up your house - but the same is true of almost any pet, really.

I should point out that those are actually jauncourt's ferrets, Mum and I were only visiting. Joseph has evinced interest in getting a brace of ferrets as our next pet, but our landlord will freak, so we hafta find a new apartment first. This may or may not ever actually occur...
