Oh baseball... Several years ago, a young pitcher by the name of Jeff Weaver was drafted and developed by the Detroit Tigers. Year after year he got better and better to the point where he was considered one of the best in the league. Because the Tigers were a last place team at that time, they traded him to the New York Yankees for several other players. In the spotlight of New York, Weaver struggled and famously lost the 2003 World Series for the Yankees after giving up a game winning homerun in extra innings of Game 4 to the Florida Marlins. That offseason, with New York understandably pissed, he was dumped to the Dodgers were Weaver slowly regained form. By the end of the 2005 season, Weaver looked like the dominant pitcher he once was for the Detroit Tigers. Of course, with the luck of the Dodgers, his contract was up and was looking for a megastar contract. Nobody was willing to pay. He eventually took a dramatic pay cut and signed a one year contract with the Angels where we proceeded to stink up the place. By the halfway point of the season, Weaver was conisdered the worst pitcher in baseball and was released from the team. Shortly after, the St. Louis Cardinals decided to try to bring Weaver back to form. At first, he still stunk. But the Cardinals had faith and continued to support him and let him pitch over and over again. And of course, he started to recover. He led the Cardinals into the playoffs and finally, in the playoffs, he pithced great game after great game until finally, he pitched a wonderful Game 5 of the World Series leading the St. Louis Cardinals to a championship and probably securing his big money contract this offseason...
...against the Detroit Tigers.
Fuck this shit. I'm going to get drunk.
