Long time no post

Today I voted for the first time ever. As far as president goes, I really don't think it would matter too much, Obama would have won california with or without me. I voted because of some of the prop's. Obviously Prop 8 was an emotional one for me and still is. 2 clients at work said "WE WON!" when with 2% of precincts reporting prop 8 was yes ( Read more... )

I'm angry, too. But as I said to a mourning friend last night, we can fix this. We've come so far in the past ten years; we can go farther in the next ten.

Does that make this okay? Not at all. It's disgusting and shameful. But we will have a President who's mostly on our side. We will have a Supreme Court that isn't filled overwhelmingly with people willing to reinforce bigotry. We will have domestic partnerships, which is not good enough but better than nothing. And we will have the future, which is everything.

Hang in there.

All the ads for it were a bunch of fear tactic bullshit and if people based their vote off the for ads they should be smacked. I hope the challenges go forward and win. Marriage equality for all!

Because black voters in California who support Obama can still be retarded homophobes. It still amazes me that Americans think it's OK to limit civil rights in a constitution instead of granting them. We learned nothing from prohibition.

I blame the Mormons. They contributed more than 1/2 the total campaign money for Prop. 8. As a former-mormon I apologize for them being stupid n' shit.

It's easy to to blame the mormons and yes I think they need action taken to show what they opened up. Protests in front of mormon churches, same sex kissing in front of mormon churches as they are taking their children in. They were scared of homosexuality taught in schools, fuck em, lets bring it to their doorsteps! They wanted to protect their children, but had their children holding signs for prop 8?
Mormons are not the only ones to be mad at though, they do not make up 52% of the population that did vote for it. Even with the money thrown at something, if people do not actually research what they are voting for, their actions still lie on their shoulders. Every single person who voted for prop 8 voted for bigotry and that is on their shoulders, I do not care if they thought they were protecting their children, they were too lazy or fucking stupid to check it out themselves, so they can die with being bigots and I will rejoice at their death knowing the world is a better place without them.

Some of them are OK - http://www.salon.com/mwt/feature/2008/10/31/proposition_8_mormons/index.html - plus didn't you used to think Mormons were the cat's pajamas?

Also yeah over 1/2 your state is retarded.

I thought mormons were hot, and their ruling over their own palnet was a nice touch. Jokingly I said they were badass, but they have always had horrible views which I have disagreed with. But come on, those cute boys on their bikes and offering them wine as we were passing around the jug everytime it got to them was priceless in michigan.
