Good things:
  • This weekend Joe and I have tickets to go see Sweeney Todd at a local theater, I'm psyched about that.
  • My classes are DONE in less than a month, and I don't have lab for the next 2 weeks.  Thank god for that.
  • On Sunday I did orientation for Whiskers, this cat sanctuary/shelter in my neighborhood, so I'll be starting volunteer shifts there ( Read more... )

Wow, 100 cats in a two story house? That's a lot of cats!!! Where is the place located? Right in Albany? That's awesome that you are going to be able to volunteer for them. :-)

Kelly, it is SO many cats! When you walk in they're just on EVERY single surface! They have shelves put up all around the rooms, and there's cats lying everywhere. It's a pretty nice setup. Lots of room and cages and space for the cats. Different rooms for different special needs type cats.

I can't wait to start volunteering. I think I'll start next week, after Easter. It should be fun!

also! there was a program on NPR this morning about vet students and how they all want to work with pets, but that there actually is a huge demand for people who will work with horses and cows. i know you love cats & dogs, but have you considered the type of job where you'd travel out into rural areas and help them out with their larger-animal needs?

I'm actually going to be shadowing with a horse vet this summer, so I'll be able to see what that job is all about and get more experience with it. Hopefully that'll give me a better idea of what I want to do.

Also, I didn't know you got your kitties from Whiskers! Did you go to an adoption center, or did you go directly to the Whiskers shelter to pick them out? I haven't met Judie yet but if I do, I'll mention you. :)

that's great about the shadowing for the summer! :) hopefully that will be a fun and worthwhile experience.

Luie and his bros were at the LC Smith pet store in Delmar, where they often have cats for adoption through Whiskers. Greta was being fostered by Judie, so we got her that way.
