Why does this kind of thing make me so nervous?!

I tried to go to a Cornell open house back in the spring but I got sick the week of and didn't go. I was hoping to go to one of their admissions tours this summer but by now all the tour dates are full. Long story short, I emailed them earlier in the week and asked to be put on the waiting list for all 3 summer dates, including one on June 12th, ( Read more... )

i vote for wearing sneakers. it's not an interview, right? you need to be comfortable enough so that you can take in all of the important information and make a good impression. (and i don't think that sneakers=bad impression)

It's definitely not an interview. I think it's like a presentation, followed by a tour led by a vet student! So I really shouldn't be so worried about it!

I'm still torn about what to wear...I only have the white sneakers I wear to the gym...but can I wear those with black pants? I'm assuming I shouldn't wear jeans to this, especially since I don't have any "nice" jeans...just the two pairs of slightly worn out ones that I've been wearing for a while now as I wait to go down a size.

I guess I'm torn between jeans & sneakers + nice shirt or nice pants & dress shoes + nice shirt. Does it really matter if I wear jeans?? I'm still up in the air about it.

i just wore regular clothes on all the tours of colleges I did. Granted yes its grad school but its still college, its not like they expect you to be in a pantsuit everyday in class :)

comfy walking shoes, nice pants and a nice top, nothing overly fancy - now stop worrying and just have fun!! take it alll in

Grad school is still as important as vet school! It's not like the vet/med schools are all stuffy pretentious places...at least I hope not!

I'm sure I'm worrying for nothing! But I'm still probably gonna bring two outfits in case I freak out about one of them. Hehehe...what can I say? I'm neurotic!

Everything was totally fine and I was definitely more relaxed about the dress code thing when I woke up this morning. I knew that I was freaking out for nothing, and once I got there it was fine. I fit in just fine! :)
