I already took the damn GREs again at the end of August...and i got the SAME math score as last time! the whole reason I took it over (and paid for the Kaplan class) was to improve my math score. My verbal went up a lot, but that's not what I was concerned with.
Now I'm wondering...do I take it AGAIN? Kaplan offers a higher score guarantee which means if you're not happy with your new score (like if it doesn't go up or doesn't go up as much as you'd like) you can take their class again for free and have access to their online study materials again. But one of the stipulations is that you have to do ALL the online homework by the time you take the test, and I didn't do all of it. I did most, but I didn't have time to do all! So now I have a feeling they're not going to honor the guarantee. Dang. I'd like to be able to study again with their materials and take it again in the winter or something. I'm determined to get my math score UP!
And I think you should definitely make the grad program research a priority! If you're applying this winter, I know it seems like a lot of time left before applications are due, but it really sneaks up on you! Definitely give yourself a lot of time to prep! And even if you haven't exactly decided on which schools to apply to, you can still start writing a personal statement and ask some of your teachers to write you letters of recommendation. These things you can start early so you don't have to do everything right before things are due.
See, this is the good advice I can give because I've been through it before...but do I take that advice myself?? No! I need to start following my own advice!
