'Lilium' - made © CalArts 2008

I'm reluctantly posting this here since a few of you asked so nicely (I wouldn't want to let you guys down)!
It's a Work in Progress, as I'm planning on continuing to animate the rest of it over the summer and however long it takes to get it done.

Yeah, lesson learned: don't animate underwater characters unless you really know how to animate well ( Read more... )

WTF DID SHE DIE?!?! ;_______; THIS IS NOT FUNNY, KRISTINA. WHERE'S THE LULZ? XD

But oh man, there's this part about a minute and 5 seconds in where her hair folds back on to her when she stops that's so gorgeous. I love it <3

And did you look at Ariel any? Cause I got that vibe a lot of the time in the way she moves and carries herself xD

No she didn't die, her ego just got severely marred lol

I looked at a few things for references (yes, including TLM :3), and though I did my best to put my own acting choices into her, I'm sure some things showed up subconsciously.

Thanks~ ; ;

I really like the shot you have around 59 seconds, where she is looking up at the petals falling. That's a really good shot--the way its animated and everything. And the one about a minute and twelve seconds into it, I really like the colors in that shot.

And the only thing I can think of to help in animating water...is maybe going to the aquarium and observing the fish?

I'm glad you like those!

It's not so much having trouble animating things underwater - I understand the physics okay enough - just actually *doing* it is more trouble, because a lot of my frames were on 1's (and then keeping track of overlap and everything else you do to animate etc...) It just takes practice I guess? It got a little faster as I was animating more.

How are your projects going?

Oh, okay. Yeah I can understand it being a bit of trouble animating it...

My projects are coming along very slowly...there is never enough time XD;

Very emotional film! Even if you don't think you did that well, I can see improvement. The way you animated her hair is just...amazing.

Please keep working on this, I want to see where her story goes!

The story ends there, but I'm going to fix things when I work on it some more. At the end, I should have made it clearer that her interaction with the "flooper" made him realize that she wasn't going to change, and he leaves her alone in THE ABYSS! But I didn't have time, rushed, and this is what you see now D: *desk*

At least you can see improvement! That makes me happy enough.
