Stretched out, as usual. Ran a couple laps to warm up. Did some very fast footwork, as it was, after all, Saturday and much more advanced.
We did the basic advance retreat... and then he through in something quite unexpected. He usually sets lunges after a break... but t his time he said, “Advance, advance, retreat, advance, LUNGE!" And, I'm proud to say, I lunged with barely a moment's hesitation. He did that every once in awhile, trying to throw everyone off-guard.
Then he mentioned ballestras. What?! I've never done this! So he showed us how. You kick your front leg forward and jump forward, landing again, with both feet hitting the ground at the same time. It's very hard.
Did that for a bit (my legs were shaking, they were so tired).
Jamie had had a fencing jacket, but it was too small.. they were going to return it, but they gave it to me. =)
Suited up, then we had practice with Charlie.

x.x I didn't do as well as usual. He had us disengage and hit him. But it felt like he was too close, so I kept messing up. Then he showed us a one-two (where I disengage, he parries, I disengage again and hit) Then he had us "go on the move"... Meaning I would advance (he retreats), threaten (putting my sword out, as if to strike) he would then try to parry, I disengage, he tried to parry, I disengage and hit.
I did a bit better on the one-two. Then I bouted a boy... he was very good. I kept messing up on hitting him. >.<
Then I bouted his mom. =D I finally figured out how to make a hit on someone when there are no openings... by scoring a hit on her back. I got two points that way, but I figured it out too late in the bout to win.

So, generally, I was pretty bad that day. But... -shrug.- I'll do better next time, and I'm def. going to practice.
