Manga and stuff

I've been trying to get back to animanga lately with varying results. We have a few long term anime projects, including Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood (which is delightful), Maria-sama ga miteru (which is on my list or boring yet amazing shows together with legend of the galactic heroes), and Madoka Magica.

places my brain just went: logh/maria-sama fusion. ambiguously lesbian schoolgirls in space? reinhard has to give a speech at school graduation and the entire episode is made up of kircheis' nervous inner monologue about how he'll perform? oh wait that last bit was probably canon actually.

We had similar problems with Madoka, probably also because of Utena and Princess Tutu. Sigh.

(in a discussion of Utena and Princess Tutu on fb recently, someone recommended Oniisama e. I thought of you guys. Also recced was Mawaru Penguindrum in a similar context, as a data point, though I've not seen it.)

Also there were plans at least for a live-action Princess Jellyfish drama. I cannot imagine this working.

I'm starting to feel like the only person on the internet who's not all over madoka.

(Yeah, I'm completely obsessive about Oniisama e and anything about Ryoko Ikeda. The anime is really slow, but amazing. I haven't seen Penguidrum yet but it's on my list, even though the most common reaction to it seems to be 'what the f is this show?'. )

Ugh. I mean, one never knows what dramas are going to work, but that sounds terrifying. A lot of people identified with princess jellyfish and thought it was really funny, but there is a fine line between that and being offensive and annoying.
