SharkWater

Okay, so usually when I see a film it impacts me in some way, whether it be an emotion or conviction to do something better or differently, etc. SharkWater was no exception. It was just gorgeous cinematography, with beautiful colours and clips of the ocean, interwoven with a documentary and a bit of a life story.
I highly recommend it for anyone who likes learning the lovely and darker sides of the world. Who knew there was a Shark Fin Mofia? I sure didn't, not until I saw this film and the proofs it gave.
I also never really thought of the shark before as anything but... kinda... not so fun to be around. But there were clips of the guy interacting with the shark, and just in the way that the shark behaved it reminded me of a puppy. Not so cute and furry, but adorable playwithmenow kinda puppy.
This film has also strengthed my resolve to not eat anything that was not grown to be eaten. As in I'll probably never be vegetarian because I love my meat too much, but I've always eaten meat that's come from animals that were bred to be eaten. So animals like cows, chickens, pigs, farm fish, etc. I think this is the way we should use our resources as well. Cut down lumber that we planted specifically for that purpose. We do it with wheat now don't we? Grow wheat and other grains in field specifically for the purpose of being eaten. And we do that for other farm animals as well. it is just more cost effective then going out in the field and trying to 'hunt' the resources down. I believe we should be doing more of this for the creatures of the sea that we consume, as well as stricter laws for sea-life.
The phrase that's really struck me is the fact that sharks eat fishes. Fishes eat plankton. Plankton produce 70% of the world's oxygen. We are decimating the shark population currently (destroyed 90% of the population) = more fishes = less plankton = less ocygen = BAD NEWS FOR US!!!
I could go on in this subject but I'm not as interesting as the film so go see SharkWater! Go on now, you know you want to!
