"The answers to life's problems aren't at the bottom of a bottle. They're on TV!"

It's Tuesday, and I'm trying not to explode in a cloud of pink glitter from excitement since this weekend is Comic-Con, the cancer walk and the day I get to eat sushi and frolic around in Galaxy Comics and buy everything I ever wanted.  So in the interest of self-distraction, I stole this meme from plainrea, but unsurprisingly, all my favorites are ( Read more... )

Re #15...I can so see Beck in C.O.B.R.A, can't you? *snickers* I mean, he seems to have just about the same amount of success with his plans, no?

I considered doing this meme too, but I couldn't narrow it down to just 5 shows. I got Big O, Dr Who (Tom Baker years) and the original Prisoner, but then things got messy. There's Paranoia Agent, FLCL, Robot Chicken, The X Files (the early years, of course), Star Trek (original) and it goes on from there.

Like, how would R. Dorothy deal with the Cylons of the rebooted Battlestar Galactica? What would #6 (Patrick McGoohan of The Prisoner) think of Paradigm and Alex Rosewater?

Absolutely. Beck and Major Bludd would be either arguing or getting drunk together. Beck trying to control the Dreadnoks would be equally hilarious.

What if ROGER was a Cylon? It's very Blade Runner, don't you think?

And then Angel would be constantly pissing off the Baroness, of course *^_^*

Oooo, Roger as a Cylon! What a great idea, we could both have one, just like Boomer *lustful grin* Hey, now that I think of it, not one of the male Cylons was all that great looking.

Oh, right, like pissing off the Baroness is hard. Roughly broken down into percentages out of a hundred, I'm pretty sure the Baroness's day consists of 91% pissed off, 7% uncontrollable libido, 2% sleep. *chuckles.* She'd give Angel a run for her money, and everyone in the G.I. Joe motor pool would be taking bets on who had the better leather catsuit. As per usual, Ace would be the bank, but I think Cover Girl would be handling the odds because she has experience being a sex object for money.

*closes eyes and puts hand to forehead, laughing* Both have one. I love it! We could dress them differently and confuse passerby!

Durarara. It looks like it actually might not suck.

Are all animated (Japanese or otherwise) series nowadays not just "teh suck?" I mean, SRSLY. What happened? There was a time when every other anime out of Japan was a firecracker. ...And now? They're all duds. I haven't seen a single thing in the last 3-5 years that isn't harem, yaoi, or some ninja/samurai/supernatural powers type series with thirty-seven characters and a leading male who spends 25 of the 30-minute episode staring at his enemy with his fists clenched and his teeth bared. I swear everything on Adult Swim/SyFy right now is either a really bad rip-off of DBZ, or a really bad rip-off of Neon Genesis. (I won't even touch American cartoons. CN and Nickelodeon speak for themselves.) And the voice acting? What can I say. There IS no voice acting nowadays.

I have to say I've never seen CSI. But I have started watching Criminal Minds on ION and I am TOTALLY hooked.

You're not wrong. bluehorse is brave enough to sample the latest anime series when CN gets them--I've tagged out of the ring at this point and stick with the old stuff I know I like. I'm more a fan of American stuff lately, but again, all I like is old cartoons, or newer things that are reboots of older cartoons (MLP: FiM, G.I. Joe Renegades).

And you're not wrong about DBZ--while I enjoyed the original Dragon Ball and the beginning of DBZ, let me tell you, that was the final nail in the coffin when it came to imports. Look at what happened to Bleach, for crying out loud, and the beginning of that show was honestly so good. Why does it always do this?

Like I said in Best Buy yesterday trying to decide which version of Super Street Fighter IV and Marvel vs. Capcom 3 I wanted, "Damn fanboys always wanting bigger and better of the same thing, always ruining everything!"

I still love anime, but the old anime, when the stories were good and the production teams cared about doing a good job instead of churning out another fight scene as ( ... )

Same here. I don't even bother with what they're bringing to CN/Syfy these days. For one thing, the voice acting is horrid, and the art style and plotlines are so recycled I can guess what's going on by the soundtrack. The more I watch PoDW or YST, the more I realize I'm past my prime. Modern-day anime/manga does nothing for me.

I'd like to add Ah! My Goddess, and Fushigi Yuugi to that list. AMG is a classic, and while FY falls into the "convoluted and long" category (similar to Escaflowne), it remains one of the most gorgeously-drawn anime/mangas ever produced. There are other classics like One-Pound Gospel that are of note as well, and we can't ever forget the series that started it all, Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon. ;D

Criminal Minds is one of the few series where I actually like most (if not all) of the characters on the team. Shows like Psyche and Bones wear on my nerves, because there's only two or three people I like and the rest I tolerate for the sake of the two or three. But the cast for CM is tops. I especially ( ... )

Oh, BSSM is a given. I just figured everone would assume that. XD

I love Fushigi Yuugi, too--it's my favorite Watase. Ah! My Goddess is a great premise, too--although I admit, it's easy to like Urd. *^_^*

And I'm sure I've mentioned this to you already, but if you haven't watched Archer yet, DO IT. It has easily become my Latest Favorite Show Ever.
