Insomnia needs to die

can someone direct me to a somewhat-interesting yet somewhat-boring book that will help me fall asleep? i obviously don't want to read like, an instruction manual... but maybe some mildly-interesting biography or historical fiction? ugh, i really just need to go to the doctor... but i can't make an appointment until i know my work schedule -.- HALP ( Read more... )

Anything by Thomas Hardy. He just rambles on and on about the scenery. Also, any mildly interesting plot points are only alluded to -- I swear, there could be an epic sword fight in one of his novels and Hardy wouldn't mention that there are swords involved because he's a Victorian novelist and swords might give the impression of a phallic symbol.

Don't get me wrong, though. I love Hardy. I just think that sometimes he needs to shut up and sit the hell down.
