Sometimes there's that one moment in your childhood that you will never forget. It may be the small things that may seem like nothing to others but has so much sentimental value to you. For Anthony Padilla, that was a lazy summer day, hanging around at the beach with his bestest friend in the whole world, Ian Hecox.

The sun was shining, reflecting off of the calm blue waves of the ocean. The sand was burning to the touch, harming the sensitive skin on the bottom of the foot. The beach wasn't relatively crowded as Ian predicted it to be.

Women strutted around in the skankiest bikinis the two teenagers had ever seen. Douchebag men were showing off their spray tanned muscles. Yup, they were definitely at the beach.

Ian and Anthony shared an intense stare. "Race you to the ocean," Ian challenged.

"You're on."

The two of them sprinted as fast as could in the sand, trying to beat the other to the ocean. Anthony smirked as he thought of a brilliant plan. Little did he know that Ian was thinking the same exact thing.

Now, both of them thought. Palms flat out in front of them, both teenagers attempted to push each other at the same time. Both Ian and Anthony tumbled back, their bodies hitting the burning sand.

Skin burning, both of the boys quickly reacted, pushing off of the ground and, again, starting sprinting towards the crashing waves, searching for some relief. After finding the relief they were searching for, Ian and Anthony broke out into hysterical laughter.

They laughed so hard tears started rolling down their sunburned cheeks, burning the delicate skin. Anthony laughed so hard that he swore he started to form a six-pack. Ian had a deadly case of the hiccups due to the lack of air.

At an unexpected moment, a monster of a wave crashed into Ian and Anthony, causing them to be dunked under the water. The invading salt water of the ocean filled Anthony and Ian's lungs. Quickly, Anthony surfaced, coughing and gagging.

Anthony's eyes burned due to the pool of salt water that hit his chocolate eyes during the ambush. After rubbing his eyes in attempt to clear out the salt water, Anthony started to look for Ian. Where the hell was that idiot?

"Ian?" he called out his best friend's name.

He received no answer. Anthony sighed. "Ian? Where the fuck did you go?" he called out.

Anthony grimaced when he got no answer again. He wasn't really in the mood for Ian's stupid jokes. His eyes and skin burned, his lungs were dry and inflamed and he was still coughing up salt water.

"Seriously, Ian? Where are you?" Anthony growled.

Again, there was no answer. Anthony didn't remember Ian surfacing. Holy fuck shit! Anthony thought and then took action quickly. Diving into the water, he attempted to find his best friend.

It would really help if his eyes didn't sting or hurt like a motherfucker. Where are you Ian? Anthony's mind shouted. What if he...no. No. He couldn't have. Ian knows how to swim. Ian couldn't have drowned. He's too young. He has a life ahead of him.

Anthony's eyes caught sight of a floating body with honey brown hair that was sticking up in all directions. The body looked familiar and...Ian! Anthony swam as hard so that he came face-to-face with an unconscious Ian.

Anthony linked his arm around Ian's limp one and pulled himself and his best friend up to the surface.

"Help!" Anthony shouted, seeking assistance from anybody. It could be a two-year-old for all he cared.

Anthony started to pull Ian towards shore when a twenty-something lifeguard came to help him.

"What happened?" he asked, his eyes was covered by sunglasses but it was clear that he was looking at Ian.

"A huge wave came up and crashed. We didn't even see it coming. He didn't come up and I figured out that he didn't come up and well, I got him and now we're here..." Anthony explained, his eyes never leaving his best friend's limp, lifeless body.

"How old are you?" the lifeguard asked.

"Fourteen."

"How about your friend?"

"We're the same age."

"Oh."

When they reached the shore, the lifeguard started performing CPR on Ian. Even though it looked totally gay, Anthony couldn't keep his eyes off of the sight. Seeing Ian like that, totally helpless, almost dead, it scared Anthony. In the three years of their close friendship, Anthony had never seen Ian like that.

Anthony saw the color come back to Ian's face. Suddenly, Ian's eyes snapped open and he started coughing and gagging. The lifeguard seemed relieved. It was clear that Anthony was relieved as well and thankful.

"Ian!" Anthony cried and pulled his best friend into a not-so-manly hug.

Ian hugged back, thankful that he was still alive. He fell back onto the fluffy towel, taking Anthony with him. Anthony chuckled as Ian started to fall asleep, clearly exhausted.

"Thank you," Anthony said softly to the lifeguard. "I don't know what I would've done if you didn't help me."

"It's no problem, only doing my job. Enjoy the rest of your days and try not to get in any more trouble, ight?" the lifeguard smiled and then ruffled Anthony damp hair before returning back to his post.

"Ian," Anthony nudged him.

"Hmm?"

"Call your mom. We should probably go home."

Ian nodded, pulling out his awesome new cellphone. Barely anybody had one. His mom gave it to him as a middle school graduation present.

"Oh and Anthony?" Ian called.

Anthony turned to looked at Ian. Ian pecked Anthony's lips. "Thank you," he said.

Anthony was speechless. Did Ian just kiss him?! "Uh, your welcome..."
