Angles, for real, man. I'm definitely after some strictly formal concepts with this series, focusing hard on compositional elements, and these steel beams are perfect for that.
Haha, I don't mean to imply anything, but the Photo 1 kids always go coo-coo for contrast. I don't what it is... maybe it's a generation raised on poorly Photoshopped MySpace photos or something, but every first year photo student makes their prints waaay too contrasty (except, of course, me, when I was in Photo 1).

I like how angular it its. The foreground and background girders contrast perfectly. The rivets jut out nicely, too.
The sky in the 2nd shot is great, though, and adds a nice smooth gradient background.
I tend to like a sharper black/white contrast in black and white photos more like in the 3rd shot.
