"My favorite part of Chicago is always how empowered it makes me feel."
I totally relate to this. I feel average there and I like that. Here I feel a bit subhuman because I don't drive and my decision on whether or not to go somewhere is often based on transit and more importantly LACK of transit or inconvenience of transit. In Chicago I can assume that it will be relatively easy to get anywhere in an acceptable amount of time and that is so liberating. I want to live like that always.
Agreed! What is so normal for Chicagoans makes me feel like a superhero, and STL just can't wrap its head around transit. Maybe Seattle will be the same way and we'll all decide to live there forever.
I think you should live in California (near me) forever. I offer a great chauffeur service although I intend to check out the public transit, as well. I know how you feel about the friends of friends thing. It doesn't take too much just to make it work out for a bit and then you basically don't ever have to see them again!
That sounds like a great idea! I think Cali as a whole offers good transit (or so I hear). St. Louis has had me down lately. I should post on that.
I think this was particularly bad beacuse it somehow managed to be an even split right down the table. Usually you can kind of mingle, but this was just a one-or-the-other situation. And the 'other side' was being rude and it was hard to avoid. I kind of wish I had video evidence.
