... Is it wrong that I'm totally stressing out about this upcoming interview with the DATS command? I... I've never done an interview like this before, and I want to make a good impression. I mean, if this place is as troubled as everyone makes it out to be, I should be out trying to fix that, but I'm not some kinda superhero, I need to work with ( Read more... )

You say that, yeah, but... I've never done this, so it's naturally really worrisome. I mean, where I'm from, taking a job basically consisted of walking in, saying, "Oy, you need someone?", and whoever was in charge - if anyone - saying "Sure, why not?!"

For there to be an actual interview like this... I mean, should I dress differently? Clean up my bike? Practice the bass? I don't even know....

It was all new to me once, too! Remember? I was made for singing, but I decided to work in the DATS garage here.

I would say... dress a little nicer if you can, but don't try to go overboard. If you're going for a face to face interview I wouldn't worry too much about your bike, but they are going to want to know your skills some how.

[a thoughtful pause, then]

Ah! I keep forgetting you're so new here! Do you need clothes for the interview maybe? We can go shopping.

Well...

Yeah, that would probably be a wise idea, huh?

... Why does the word choice for that sound entirely unreassuring?

I didn't mean it to... I just meant I don't think you need to worry about the interview too much!

R... Right.

I just... I gotta make this work. Somehow.

You just need to relax. I mean I'm sure it's just like a normal interview...but for the authorities.
I can't say anything about it personally, but un-knowledgeable reassurance is better than no reassurance at all.

It's... when you have no experience with "normal" interviews...

Oh...um, try to appear as professional as possible. And don't stutter. That's about all I got.
