Do you ever read a fic that you love so much that it drags you into a fandom? Well, it happened to me last weekend.

I was perusing epic_recs as one does on a Saturday morning when soccer has been cancelled for rain and I came across a hockey RPS fic by salifiable called Heart in Hand. There wasn't anything exciting going on in the Adam Lambert fandom so I thought,

I just read the fic you wrote at the hockey comm and wandered over here to see if you've written any more only to find that apparantly you got snagged into the fandom by the same fic i did.

Damn that story was good. I don't even follow hockey - i'm australian dammit, we don't get ice hockey here!

And there is not nearly enough fic in existence, that i've discovered.

I've been trying to work my way back through the 2 minutes for slashing group hunting for more. That community needs an archive or a fic rec page or something.

I feel for you in Aussie though. It's bad enough here in B.C. None of the TV stations broadcast Washington Capitals games. Thank Christ for Youtube.

There's a few fics over on the now defunct kink memes. I might have them tagged I'll see and let you know.

My plan of action is youtube and then live streaming which a flatmate used to use for soccer, surely hockey has it too...

I'm still debating over which team to support though.

I've been trying to find live streams for the Washington Caps but no luck so far. Problem is I don't know anyone in the fandom really.

I usally only support winners but I hate the Flyers more than death so it won't be them. I'm in B.C. but Canucks and the Sedin's don't do anything for me. I've got a bit of a thing for Ovechkin but he and the Caps aren't doing much this year. So yes, I'm torn.

I am so glad you have been inspired by Heart in Hand - it's a wonderful and always surprising story. Sid has such trouble listening to his heart there is always a disconnect between what he wants to do and what he thinks he should do. Have fun with it! Is your story "Over Time" with Sid and Ovie the product. It's super! Is there any reason I can read the first 9 parts, but part 10 comes up 'access denied'?

Hey, I'm glad you like Over Time! Thanks for the feedback.

And yes, Heart in Hand is the SINGLE reason I've shifted camp to Hockey RPS in the first place. Read it and was completely captivated. Now I can't get enough stories about conflicted, pseudo-straight hockey players. So much more possibilities for angst than Adam Lambert fandom, which come on, writes itself.

If you have any rec's for hockey fics I'd love to hear them. I'm not even that particular which players because I DON"T REALLY KNOW ANY OF THEM. Lol. As long as it's long, and angsty, and has a happy ending. Funny is good too.

I like the dorky possibilities of Sidney Crosby and love all the Russians. :D
