Thoughts on last nights Torchwood (2x02: Sleeper)

Watching it for a second time! Gosh, you're keen. I couldn't keep my eyes open for the first showing *g*

I agree with the Jack/Gwen thing. If there's a couple with less chemistry, I'd love to see them.

I was surfing the tinternet while it was on so it didn't have my full attention. I'm convinced that if it had been any good I would have packed the laptop away and watched it properly!

I'm very confused by the Jack/Gwen stuff. Last series that managed to sniff each other and have a couple of lingering looks (and she kissed him but he was dead at the time). Now he's acting like her jealous lover. All I'm asking for is a little consistency - is that too much to hope for?

I liked last night's episode. While I thought KKBB was enjoyable enough, I felt the pace was just a bit too rushed and, also, that the humour was consistently childish. I have no problem with homosexuality, but I felt they were trying to bang a drum every second moment about it in KKBB. Also, I just am not a fan of Chibnall. I however loved the "Bloody Torchwood!" and liked Captain John ( ... )

'Sleeper' just felt like too many ideas crammed into 45 minutes and none of them really developed. I'm also not keen on how Gwen has been pigeonholed as the 'carer' (I think that's what the blowfish called her in his team breakdown). I know lots of fans don't like Gwen, but I think she could be an interesting character if they let her!
The Jack/Gwen thing just gets me annoyed everytime I think about it.

I was excited after episode 1 which I thought had a good blend of action and comedy (and James Marsters). The monster of the week format though is going to get tired and I hope they realise that and add in some longer story arcs. I stick with it, mostly because we're starved of anything else at the moment!
