Alex was very bolshy but I think she will mellow a bit (hope so anyway).
I was spoiled on LJ a few weeks ago so I knew about Sam, but it was interesting that he died in both 'times' last year. Seeing his picture with 'Suicide' stamped on it though was horrible.
I'm thinking that Alex is adjusting so will soften up a bit and stop talking about herself every minute of the day. I'm not sure whether her knowing Sam's history is a hindrance or a help but I suppose she is in the same position as us (the audience).
I didn't particularly notice the resemblance of the daughter to the test card girl - I was too distracted by the huge mole on her face! lol
George and Zippy were brilliant! George was always my favourite.
Parts of last night were playing up the team stuff - the arrival on the motorboat was so OTT! Strangely I loved the little scene of Gene on the phone to his superiors, justifying his actions. He seems to have a lot less freedom to act thsan in Manchester.
Gene Hunt is wonderful. Nuff said. More Gene hunt makes me tremendously happy. I think I might be in love with him too.
I think Ashes to Ashes will take a little getting into. Last night's felt very much like an introductory episode to me. Not sure about Alex yet - I think she'll probably turn out great, but she was a little too strident last night for me to really like her. I'm confident that the writers have everything under control.
Like you, I really hope there will be some character development for Chris and Ray - they're hilarious as they are, but as you point out, time has passed, and I feel they have the potential to be better than they are.

Absolutely - there was a lot of information to get across, perhaps a bit overloaded. I also thought it got overly silly with all the guns and virtually no injuries!
