GLOAT! GLOAT!
It is my 18th wedding anniversary. To celebrate, I am going to take a trip down memory lane and talk about the DH epilogue.
Once upon a time, in the "golden" days of fandom, yours truly (YT) and a certain someone (henceforth to be known as "Y ur so RoNG!" or YRNG for short) debated about the fate of our loveable Harry Potter.
This debate went something like this:

YT: ... I think that canon pairings are who will eventually end up with/marry whom, not just which couples in canon will date ...
YRNG: Yeowza! Cor! The books will end when Harry is seventeen. Who marries at seventeen? Didn't know we was shipping for eternity dude! Liek gross!
YT: Umm, JKR said she's writing an EPILOGUE (gives linky to JKR quote in original post) where she'll tell us what happens to the survivors. JKR, Teh Goddess, said that seventeen is when wizards are all growd up! No big stretch for me to extend shipping for eternity if I can stretch my credulity to view seventeen year olds as full adults.
YRNG: Liek OMG! UR disgusting! Who ends up married at 17?!? I imagine we'll get a sense of whether they'll stay alive and happy and that's about it in teh epilogue. ... let...the...books...go.
YT: Uh, all I said was maybe she might mention something about marriage in teh epilogue somehow. Maybe that's how we can possibly know who Harry or Ron or Hermione or any of the 'survivors' marries or doesn't marry if that's the case. I said nuffin in there 'bout teen marriage dude.
YRNG: *snort*wheeze*whistle*snerk*schnooglewoogledoogle* Yeah, as if JKR would write such a BARFtastic EPILOGUE! And I still maintain that it's unlikely that JKR'll mention marriage in her epilogue or tell us in more exact detail than we might expect from a simple resolution of existing plot in the last chapters of Book 7. Not her style dude. If she did do OBHWF, I'd be liek so totally disappointed in her. She ain't writing OBHWF in teh epilogue. Nuff said.
YT: *rolls eyes* Wutevre. Time will tell.

YRNG talking about DH elsewhere: Blah, blah ... epilogue ... very inevitable to me ... Blah. Blah. Ginny and Trio ... brought together as family ...liek I so totally knew JKR wanted! ZOMG! I was liek so RITE about teh epilogue!
