Interruption
“Olivia is up in the Crib!” Alex nodded and headed upstairs. Leaving the door open to have some light, she tiptoes to her lover, who was sound asleep. She sat next to her on the bed and carefully caressed her lover's cheek. Liv's eyes fluttered open and as soon as she realized who was sitting there a smile appeared on her face.
She yawned and rubbed her face. “Hey Sweety, what are you doing here?” Alex shyly looked away. “Unfortunately I am here on business matters. I got the subpoena for you. All you have to do is bring the guy in and I am gonna make sure he stays in until hell freezes over.” Olivia sat up and hugged her gorgeous lover.
“That is great. Though I would like to stay here with you since this bed is large enough for the both of us.” “What a great idea, but I have to be in court in about an hour. Rain check?” Olivia leaned in for a kiss mumbling “Of course!”
But before their lips met a booming voice startled them. “Would you please get the fuck out! I hadn't had some descent sleep in days.” The lovers stared wide eyed at each other, neither of them had known they weren't alone. So they hurried out and as soon as the door closed behind them they started giggling.
Jacket
“How long?” Olivia's voice was shaking and she had to swallow hard. Alex didn't know what to say. The lovers exchanged knowing looks. Both were having a hard time fighting the tears and trying not to break down. There was so much more to say but so little time. Alex got in the car and nodded goodbye.
Olivia couldn't believe Alex was still alive but it was even harder to wrap her mind around the fact that she would be gone for good. Neither words nor tears could express how empty she felt. Elliot touched her shoulder in passing and headed for the car. He was at a loss for words as well, knowing what the squad and especially the two women had lost.
Three weeks later, a huge box occupied the space in front of Olivia's door, when she came home. Her curiosity got the better of her and she opened it right in her hallway. 'A leather jacket?' Olivia opened her door and took the jacket and the box inside.
There was a small envelope and Olivia extracted a note saying: "You had my blood on your sleeve and I wouldn't want it to remind you of that night. I got you this so you could look forward to the day we meet again. A."
Olivia started sobbing and hugged the jacket tightly. She was still mourning, but the emptiness had made room for something very tiny and fragile, a small and fuzzy little something settled in her heart. She felt hope.
