Maybe they all read the fairy tale wrong. Maybe it wasn’t the knight who was supposed to wake the sleeping princess, but the gunslinger.

Irvine sat by Rinoa’s bed. Squall had been sitting at her side for days, stepping away only at his friends’ insistence that he eat something and get a few minutes of air.

Irvine found it very sad that this spitfire of a girl, the spunky daughter of a Galbadian general that threatened Irvine with bodily harm if he did not turn the car around immediately to rescue their friends from prison, lay comatose, almost lifeless.

Maybe she was just waiting for her kiss. Maybe Squall wasn’t the guy.

Irvine removed his hat and leaned over to kiss her. Rinoa’s lips were cold. Only the slightest warm breath from her nostrils indicated that she was still alive. She did not open her eyes. She did not look up at Irvine with a word of thanks, or with a punch to the nose.

Nope, a cowboy’s kiss just would not do. Irvine shrugged sadly, and rose to leave her to her slumber.

Vincent/Tifa FFVII

"You're tired of love, aren't you," she said in an almost accusation. He'd been sitting in her bar, that stupid not there look on his face as he ordered only water. Didn't he know what day it was?

"Or are you just going to keep sitting there, sulking."

No answer. Tifa was getting impatient. It wasn't like she had a date either. She wouldn't have been working if she had one.

"Vincent, it's only a stupid holiday. And you can't keep mooning over some--" she stopped herself, because her bad mood was clearly removing her usual tact.

Tifa was at his table now, and she noticed it. Shredded pink paper that might have been some kind of shape.

"Valentines are difficult to make with only one hand," he said simply.

Of course, there was no need for paper when a simple kiss would do.

Oh, I liked that! Very cute! This pairing is SUCH a guilty pleasure for me, and there's almost NOTHING good out there for them. So, yay! :D
