Pretty much everyone I know is stressed about something, too, so this round of the

That's very sweet and sad, and a wonderful take on the scene. Thank you. :)

Strangers in Kaipo were common, Anna knew. The desert oasis was a literal life-saving stop for many lost travelers as well as not-lost trade caravans, and often the Inn and the Pub were packed full of people. There was no reason for her to be staring at the stranger in the restaurant - it was beyond rude.
But he was sitting at the bar... alone. And there was something about him - some sort of air. He looked tall, and slender, and almost magical. Perhaps it was the lute - he looked like one of the wandering bards out of her fairy-tale book ( ... )

It wasn’t hard to walk all day, or... whatever the stacked hours qualified for up here. It was tedious, and, since the dire moon beasts didn’t see fit to interrupt their trek through the depths of the Red Moon nearly as often as he might have liked, his gaze tended to sweep lower and lower. Eventually, he was perpetually staring at the man walking in front of them, and at length he noticed something unusual about the hypnotic, swaying gait.
“Dude!” he hissed, making a grab for Kain’s, since the dragoon was the only one in arm’s reach. “Do you see what I see?”

Syldra was Faris’ most loyal partner-protecting the ship from other fearsome creatures of the deep, guiding the ship through uncharted waters, and pulling the ship when the winds died.
Syldra would poke its head above water, as Faris tossed it a snack of venison wrapped in greens. The sea creature caught the food mid-fall, and craned its neck further out of the water to thank the captain.
Faris kissed Syldra on its large, rounded snout and wished it pleasant dreams, as the ocean rocked her crew to sleep. Syldra sang a note of contentment, as it disappeared beneath the waves to its slumber.

He seemed unreal, a bit of fantasy ripped out of a story and reborn to this world. The best kind of story, too. The grand fairy tale, the kind told to attentive, bright-eyed little girls that could still dare to dream.
She would imagine herself as the ailing princess, captured by a dastardly wizard. Then, in would come: Garland! The man who could defeat a dragon with ease. He would surely have faced hordes of monsters to reach her, his one true love. He would fight and beat the wizard with ease, like all good heroes do, then ask for her hand in marriage. He was Garland. Did he have to ask? ( ... )
