Poor little punk, Barret thought to himself. Cloud was barely conscious, sitting in a wheelchair, his head flopping around like a rag doll. Whatever happened to him in the Lifestream nearly killed him. No one had ever been exposed to that much Mako, and survived.
Barret had hope for Cloud. The scrawny SOLDIER had a 'tude, but he was tough. The mere fact that he was still alive was a small miracle, and a testiment to the strength of the young man.
Barret wrapped his big, intact arm around Cloud's neck, as if in a headlock, and gave him a quick peck on his yellow chocobo-like head.
"You had better live, or Tifa will kick your punk ass, you hear?" Barret muttered to Cloud before he took off, leaving Cloud and Tifa behind. There were still monsters to chase.
