The Past Always Catches Up (for splendid_roman)

It had been a beautiful Saturday. So much so, that Barbara wanted to convince Ian to come and do his work with her at the local park. They could have taken a picnic and sat on a rug in the shade of a tree but Ian had slept in or something similar, and by the time he answered the telephone, Barbara was about to start getting ready for their evening

"Katy," he corrected. "And I want to meet Greg too, to see if he's good enough for her."

"Have you always been this protective or is it just because things are getting a little more serious for them?" Barbara smiled at Ian, leaning over the counter with her arms folded.

"Both." He smiled back. "Someone has to look after her and I live nearest." And that Alice had met him and it had got serious while he was away with the Doctor didn't help.

Barbara's smile softened. "Well it's very sweet of you. What will you do if he isn't suitable? Will Alice listen to your advice?"
