Cook
Olivia brought her arms around her lover, embracing her from behind, snuggling close. “Sweety, you smell delicious!” “Thanks, love! You don't smell that bad either!”
Alex turned in her lovers embrace and gave her a kiss on the nose. “How was your day?” Olivia grunted into Alex's neck not wanting to answer the question.
She didn't like talking shop at home. Alex knew that, but since it was her day off, she wanted to know what had happened. She suppressed her urge to ask again, because she would find out eventually. “Your hair is still wet, why don't you blow-dry it, while I take care of our meals?” Grateful, Olivia headed for the bathroom.
Twenty minutes later, Olivia was back and found Alex filling two glasses with wine. “Wow, it smells like Duck Breast with Sweet and Sour Cranberry Chutney.” Alex turned and grinned.
“Well, you are very observant, Detective!” Alex had already laid the table and the steaming food in the Styrofoam boxes was waiting to be eaten. “Oh, Sweety, you are the most talented cook in the world!”
Dream
Olivia walked into her apartment. Feeling the weight of a hard day on her shoulders. Closing her eyes and mentally pushing her thoughts away. Thoughts of the brutally beaten little girl, now lying in a hospital bed waiting for touch-and-go reconstructive surgery.
A heavy sigh escaped the weary Detective. “What is it, love?” asked A.D.A Cabot standing in the door frame to the kitchen. “One of these days, you know!”
Olivia fell into the cushions of her couch and Alex went to her lover, pulling her into a tight embrace. “Everything is going to be okay, love. Close your eyes!”
The second sigh of this evening was one of relief, of letting go. Alex caressed her head and neck and the weight on Olivia's shoulders subsided and she fell into a dreamless sleep.
When she awoke on her couch hugging a pillow, she knew that Emily couldn't have been there to ease her pain, but felt that Alex would always be there for her.
