So I am in LA. I'm tired. I'm worn down. I have limited internet time. Keith obviously doesn't want to see me, I was such a fool for ever dreaming that he would want to ( Read more... )

Hey then, on a completly unrelated note (well, maybe kinda related, depends on how hard you're looking at it... maybe just a psuedo-relativity thing), since you seem to know the area. Which is, well, better... San Francisco or LA? I'm probably going to be moving to California in the very near future, never having been there before, and I can go to either place. But being that I know LESS than nothing (we're talkin' in the red here, knowledge wise) about the area, I'm just wondering which is more worth it. Or you can ignore my incessant ramblings and move on with it, which I'd completly understand. But hey, if you can chip in anything of merit (like what's this "Compton" place everyone keeps telling me about, is it really the best place in LA for me to live??) it'd be much appreciated. Thanks!

as much as LA is a nice, eventful, and full of things to do, San Francisco is by far better, in my opinion.

First of all, it's a small city, making transportation much easier, especially in comparison to Los Angeles which is one of the most spread out cities. [i don't know much about their public transportation system, but since i haven't heard much of it, i'm assuming its not very prevalent]

Also, it's so diverse, within that small area. You can find -anything- really. Plus, I think in general it's a lot nicer, cleaner, and less divided than LA. Also less Republican, which in my opinion is better. ;)

Plus, you also have Berkeley, Oakland, San Jose, and Marin (for the outdoorsy person) right across the bay, and it's all easily accessible for the most part.

Anymore questions? Just ask.

Yeah yeah, I'll just ignore that Republican comment. ;) But yeah, I'd dig San Fran more from what I hear, my only (big) hang up is the price. Isn't it infinatly more expensive than LA? You know the price of an average one bed/one bath around there? Or average with a roomate? Oh, and what kind of apartments are most prevailant there (you know, like a regular 1/1, or lots of lofts, or shared townhouses, things like that)? Then there's the areas, where's the hip places around the area to live, and which ones would I feesably be able to live in? You know, stupid stuff like that, any info is always appreciated!

Well, I don't live on my own, so I don't know prices and such. Sorry :( Yes, SF is quite expensive, but I know LA is too? Right? Uh yeah. Fun neighborhoods to live that aren't expensive?

Try maybe (remember, I don't know for sure) the Mission, SoMa, Haight (although it's becoming more gentrified and consequently more expensive), or Sunset. I hope that helps a little.
