I woke up at 6am, popped a caffeine pill and layed back down til it kicked in at 6:30. It's a brand new day, ladies and gents!

Basically Jay is semi-retarded because I talked to my academic dean. SO WHATEVS.

I think that private schools, but not UCs, look at each school on a different basis (ie - Marin Academy vs. Public School or whatever).

I think I can write a pretty fucking good essay. And I am really good at interviews because I have mad public speaking skillz (mind you, that is with a Z).

actually everyone is the same going into college. i mean if you have all your shit together that is, so basically everyone is the same. colleges really look at what youre doing with yourself outside of school (non-profit, and extra curricular dont count here), and if you want to apply that to your studies in a field of higher eduacational pursuits. sure you can package yourself well but if you write in your essay (the one thing that matters waaaay more than your grades, well just as much) that you have some direction in life and are showing that, then hell youll be fine. and id like to see you kick my ass "oskrew" or however its spelled, cos you'll be out for the count before you can blink, so dont front, bitch.

i agree with you on the whole extra-curruclar activities weigh A LOT when applying to college. and in some cases, what you do outside of school can overrule your grades. emily, i know you work really hard both IN and OUT of school. you do more stuff in the community than i could ever imagine. but that's not something that will compensate for your grades, because you have nothing to compensate for.

jay, i'm sorry you're delusional enough to feel that a 3.5 won't get you into a good college. sure, maybe you won't get into stanford but there are plenty of other EXCELLENT schools that will accept you.
and don't get smart with me, kid. you know how to spell as well as i do. at least i'm fucking SUPPORTIVE of my friends, you know it's really shitty to point out the flaws in people.

okay, now i'm just being stupid and not reading correctly. jay, i guess i don't agree with you on the outside activities thing. yes, it is good to be doing something that could show a "direction" in life, or something that you want to pursue later, but not everyone has that and that's fine. personally, i'm not sure what i'd like to do after college, so i know that my activities didn't inhibit whether the school decided that i was going to make something of myself or not. I DO think that extra curricular activities play a big role. i think that anything you do outside of school that show that you are trying to enrich your life is good. i know that emily works hard on all the things she does outside of school, and that they're things to take pride in.
i'm interested in what you, jay, are doing outside of school that is showing a direction in life or something that may lead to a career. not because i think that you don't have anything, but because i'm curious.

as far as i know, colleges like you to be involved in lots of different things...
and they like helping you figure out what direction to go in.
if youve already got it figured out, skip the school and get a head start.
just kidding, although that would be pretty cool.
