[ Third Reincarnation | Voice ]

[ The SFC's microphone blinks on regarding everyone at once. He doesn't care if Shizuo hears him. ♥ ]... I am getting rather tired of explaining this to people. So for those of you who are new, this should be easy enough to hear. As was earlier suggested, perhaps doing something about the apparent facts here would be for the best. ... Right now, I ( Read more... )

I think you just put together all the information we needed for newcomers. Do you want to welcome them from now on?

[Yes, she's totally teasing, but she's keeping on an entirely serious tone. She wants to see his reaction.]

... Aqua-san, [ He adds, with an air of slight danger to his voice, even though he sounds quite calm. Yes, he's abusing his Japanese again, even though he... sort of isn't Japanese. A private joke, if you will. ] What I would like is to stop tripping over them whenever I go outside.

It's quite inconvenient to bump into someone soaked and oblivious every time I turn around. Unless you're offering to help me, of course... for all of them? The entire time as we're both here...? Who knows how long that could be...

[ His smile is back on this end, even if you can't hear it, it's... almost audible. ]

Naoya. [That's a new title, but the strength in his voice makes it clear to her it's probably not something he means or respects.]

Of course you would. No, you wouldn't have to do that, you'd just have to send them a welcome message for them. Make them feel at home.

[And then the next words that stumble out of her mouth aren't the ones she really would have let herself say.] We'd have to be side-by-side for hours, probably, all the time. I don't think we'd make such good company, working together.

Oh? But wouldn't you be right at home? After all, your name is Aqua...

[ No, it isn't. And far be it from Naoya to let her have the chance to say anything else, here. He was talking more than he wanted to right now, but bah. So be it. He'd... keep control of it, somehow. ] ... Regardless, do what you will. My main issue is the facts themselves, not the others here. They don't concern me. ... Not unless someone dies, that is. Then we might have some answers to just how poisonous that coral is.

Of course, greeting cadavers would just be redundant and boring.

What am I thinking? I'm thinking I wish my fairy was more like Tinkerbell and less like a lightbulb. This thing is virtually braindead.

Thanks for the information, by the way.

Oh, do fill me in if you happen to get sick from radiation poisoning, by the way.

[ ... Naoya, that's not how you say "hello" to strangers. Or how to be very nice. Wait, did he ever care about being nice?

Of course, he's tempted to add, "there's a demon that resembles a fairy called a Pixie," but that would be helpful or incredulous, and Naoya has no interest in sharing extra information. ... Not yet, anyway; not unless this stupid curse forced him. ]

Wait, radiation poisoning? Are you saying that thing might be radio active?

[Scared now. Definitely scared now.]

Oh, it could be. It could be an opiate. It could be a living organism, or the deity of this place, as suggested...

[ Buhuhuhu. ] ... Or it could be completely harmless. Either way, if you get sick, you'll only get worse. They'll back us into a corner, like they've been doing... eventually, leaving no choice.

You didn't seem to mention what happens after you touch the coral.

[Voice] first_scorned March 5 2010, 20:37:44 UTC
What happens later is hardly my biggest concern. After all, you're going to entrust your life to a potentially deadly glowing plant... why worry about after affects if you're already foolhardy enough to do so? Or in some cases, desperate enough.

[ And unlike everyone else here? Naoya can heal himself of poison, even turning to stone. (Generally speaking, anyway.) ... And he could care less if he dies. So yeah. ] ... Besides, we won't know if something horrible happens. That's why if someone drops dead, we can assume those who have touched have radiation sickness.

[ Whoops. Well, at least he didn't TOTALLY let anything slip. Not as planned, but whatever. ]

Well, it is my biggest concern! Touching the coral is our best bet until somebody figures out a way to not keep relying on it.

[He sighs.]

Oh, I already know that something horrible happens. And what was that about radiation sickness?

[Voice] first_scorned March 5 2010, 21:07:41 UTC
... For all we know, it may be an elaborate form of opiate. Did you think of that?

[ Naoya just... smiles, on this end, as he hears the sigh. ]

Generally, things have several reasons to be bright... usually, this applies to animals and Plants. The first is the most obvious: natural bio-luminescence, or because they're poisonous, and it's a warning; the second is if it is imitating said warning to fool others... and the third is if it has been tampered with, purposefully or otherwise, by man.

[ Bah, why was he explaining this? Stupid truth thing. ] To put it shortly... it's most likely if we don't die from the plant itself, we will die of radiation sickness. A high dose is lethal to humans. Even a small dose is rather harmful, if with repeated exposure

[congrats, you're the first person Ace threads with!]

So this is what this strange device is for! I was wondering why I had a strange star shaped thing in my pocket. [laughs]

You seem rather knowledgeable about this place.

... Something of that nature. Anyone would generally conclude this after being here for a few weeks, however.

[ He doesn't recognize that voice. Then again, he doesn't particularly care too much. ... This was really his way of searching for his cousin, but he won't admit that. More of a 'two birds with one stone' sort of thing.]

What is this place exactly?

... Unfortunately, a bit longer than that. I wouldn't expect a quick escape...

[ And with that ominous tone, it sounds like he doesn't much care if he doesn't leave right now. After all, this place was interesting. He could kill Xxx at any time when he returned, after all. ]

Vatheon, apparently. Consider if you took a cup full of air, flipped it over, and quickly put it into a pot of water: the air would be trapped in a bubble at the bottom, if you do it correct.

... That is, essentially, our situation.

It's not unusual to think that things aren't always as people assume. What's 'normal' is really only a matter of opinion, after all.

Ah, and it appears that touching the coral does have its side-effects. It may be relatively mild at the moment, but would it not be better to avoid taking the chances of it eventually developing into anything serious?

Naturally. That's why it's better to let the others expose themselves. If they die, then we'll know it's not very safe, won't we? And I'm well aware of the fact it's been... causing a few inconveniences, to say the least.

[ Nothing ventured, nothing gained. Naoya rather liked that someone, finally, had something interesting to contribute. ]

As for normality... it's not a solid state of mind in any way, shape, or form. ... It's an ideal, at best. As you stated, it's an opinion; therefore, normal changes. Right now, what's happening here, may end up becoming mundane, after all.

[ A pause, and he simply smiles on his end. Then, he remembers Shizuo. Discussing normality... well... ] ... Though, unfortunately, I'm at a loss as to explain how anyone can abuse a light fixture as much as the man I met earlier managed. I almost... felt bad for the street he decimated. "Abnormal" is all I can come up with.

[ Yes, he's faking a slight bit of 'sorrow'; it's obvious he's being sarcastic, or joking. ... Or probably both. ]

[And he's just about to continue that discussion on normality, likely adding inklings about his own loving opinion of humanity and their fickle ways, until an abused light fixture in mentioned. And who is the only one he knows capable of destroying a light fixture, and often for no reason in the slightest? Shizuo.

In which case, he's not sure whether to be entertained that another came in contact with Shizuo's destructive ways... or whether to be exasperated that he was mentioned at all. Oh, how he wants so badly to forget the blond man at times.]

Mm. None can fit that description except for Shizu-chan. His brain is so primitive, I'm rather sure he's not even able to process the 'complex train of thought' that we call 'common sense'. [Who else would think of fighting with street lamps and hand rails that are already cemented into the ground?] If you're truly curious as to what makes him tick, you may have to bring yourself down to his level, though I don't recommend it ( ... )

Forgive me, I'm afraid I was somewhat curious as to whom the other he'd referred to was when we'd previously... spoken.

[ If speaking counts as a sentence or two and abruptly hanging up like a dick, then yeah, Naoya 'spoke' to him. ] ... Apparently, my name is now "You", and yours must be "That Bastard". It seems he is, indeed, incapable of complex thought.

[ There's a contemplative moment, and Naoya eyes his COMP. ]

You'd be surprised how uncommon sense can be, at times. Though I admit his strength is... certainly interesting for a human, it's nothing of major significance to me. My interest, really, lies elsewhere.
