[Kratos remembers Naoya and his powers quite well. It's that he knows this man already has experience with magic, or he might not have bothered to respond at all.]
In my world, such magic you speak of is limited to those with elven blood. They are the only ones who can manipulate mana-- the source of life, in such a way that it will take on a physical, elemental form. Researchers have often searched for ways for the average human to wield true magic, but only one method has proved successful and many would say it's not worth it. Aside from that, a few humans can cast minor spells due to either a very distant elven ancestor or special training. [Whatever the hell it was that Regal Bryant did.]The greater the spell's power and impact, the more time and concentration the mage requires. Sometimes, mages use tools to aid them with setting up a proper rhythm. For example, I once knew a boy who cast spells while playing with a kendama

Ah, how interesting. Have they ever given thought to genetics? Or is the technology in your world not advanced to the point of mapping both human and elven genomes? If there is a genetic element to this magic, then surely all one would need to do is use the DNA of said race, wouldn't they? Or perhaps a viable 'hybridization' of sorts would be impossible or highly unsuccessful if the DNAs do not merge... or perhaps worse.
[ Mostly, he's asking out of boredom, but also for information, should he ever need it. Never hurts. ]
... I'm afraid I'm not familiar with most of those terms. They may be limited to your world. Ultimately, as long as someone has even a trace of elven blood, they can master magic.
Mm, what a shame. Seems technology isn't far along in yours at all. All creatures have DNA, a blueprint of the body, if you will. It wasn't much long ago this was discovered... it makes such things as cloning possible. Ultimately, given the DNA of anything, say... take a sample of blood, it's really an easy matter to put that DNA into something more manageable.
... Medicine, for instance. Something small and portable. It wouldn't be difficult given the technology from my own world for them to do something such as that. Quite a shame really--humans can't use magic at all in mine. Demons, on the other hand... well. Now they're a different story.

... Aside from educate her? Why would I do anything to her? She's done nothing of interest to me. Her childish stupidity is her own problem, after all, not mine.
[ And yes, he is wearing his glasses. Taking a sip of his green tea now because hahaha you are SO AMUSING. ] Honestly, unlike your brother, don't assume me to just attack people without reason. I have no idea what kind of humans you're used to dealing with, but I'm not nearly that dense.
Well, it isn't exactly normal. It's normal that demons and humans should be able to live together peacefully, but that doesn't usually happen. Sakurashin's different like that.
As for magic, well, only half demons or demons can use magic, outside of a few exceptions.
[ He'll file that other information away for now--verbal tl;dr incoming. ] I've said this before to the Oni child, but you cannot expect humans to accept what they do not understand so easily unless acclimated to them. Unfortunately, demons are abnormal as most of humanity, generally speaking, has lost contact with the arcane for various reasons.
Generally God, in our case; separation of the two, mostly. He prefers to keep the Netherworld apart. In fact, getting demons to appear at all in Tokyo took an extreme amount of work on a certain cult's part. You'd be surprised how different the changes are--it is the reason for these subtle changes that interest me the most.
lol it'd ping harder if he knew who Naoya was. xDfirst_scornedJune 29 2010, 18:08:08 UTC
Simple curiosity; although I cannot establish the exact differences, I wish to learn of them. After all, demons from my world seem to be quite different than the ones we have here... it's really rather interesting.
[ Mm, you're a new arrival aren't you? ] Whatever IS truly going on, my original theory that this coral either is some point for a demon or is one... and that it's using these faeries as an extension of it's sight still stands. I believe they're a tool for it's senses--wherever it's being kept, I think that coral is it's power source.
Well, where I'm from there are quite a few things that you could call demons. Specifically, anything paranormal is called an oddity, and among those are some demons. The most powerful of these oddities are the vampires, but there are a ton of them. I've actually been dealing with quite a few oddities before I got here...
Huh, I didn't even think of the connection between the coral and the faeries. Suddenly this thing seems a lot more stalkerish.
haha if only he could summon a demon. EVEN A FROST WOULD DO :cfirst_scornedJune 30 2010, 00:26:55 UTC
How interesting. Well, there ARE vampiric demons--quite common for humans to mistake vampires for improper decomposition in the older days, though. However, I was fairly sure they did not exist until I met one here...
[ The most annoying one of them all. ] There really isn't much other reason I can think of why a living organism would be completely silent like these faeries. It's quite a pain--I can't see them as being simply a separator for who is and isn't native here. If they want that, the markings would suffice. It makes far more sense if they're being used for something else.

Ah, that's relating to the Oni girl and her friends. I believe you know her, if my information is correct, half-breed?

You better not be thinking of doing anything to Touka.

Simple curiosity, girl. Ah, and it seems you've spoken with my cousin, Hiroki--I wish to know the details of that particular call.

You're Hiroki-san's cousin? No way!

You sound surprised. Indeed, I am. ... Just how much DID he tell you? Or, perhaps I should be asking, "how little"...?

I came to the same conclusion about the coral and barrier, myself. Whatever that coral really is, it definitely plays a huge part in this oddity.
