Trees in the old days used to stand and shape a shady lane

Tonight I was stopped by the police for a random breath test. I hadn't been drinking, but I did have a sixpack of Tecate, two bottles of Spitfire Ale, and a bottle of Malbec on the front seat. The policewoman did the breath test and then, when I blew zero, said "Enjoy the rest of your night. Looks like you're going to."

Well played, QPS. Well

Yeah... Sally is away, so it's a one-man party. ;) It's going off... got through the bottle of wine and three beers. ;)

That's because you are not Australian. A good Aussie girl would put that away no worries. ;)

So what are the derogatory terms for the po-lice down Oz way?

We actually quite like our police, normally. So don't really use derogatory names.

They are sometimes called the Boys in Blue, but that's a neutral term. Various pig references if you want to get nasty. In Cockney English they are called The Filth which is about the best derogatory term going around I think. Wiki tells me that is also used in Australia (like most Cockney slang) but I've never heard it outside of a screening of The Bill on TV.

Alas, no.

In the 80s, they used to be called Demons... but slang changes so quickly, most people my age probably wouldn't even know the term. There's a lot of good slang you just don't hear any more. Homogenisation of global culture through media is probably to blame...
