Went to the Reds rugby game tonight, with Sally and our friends Josh and Mel. What an awesome game! Reds ended up drawing with the Blues but soooo close. I've been despairing of the Reds for a long time now, but they finally showed some heart and some skill

The price is there on the link... multiply by 3 for NIS.

But as we have discussed before you can't really compare directly cause salaries here are higher than in Israel. So it will probably seem even more expensive to you than it does to me... and it's pretty expensive to me. :)

well, the prices for brand jewellery can be even higher here, depends on the name, so I am not too shocked. i have a ring that cost about that much that my ex bought me about 10 years ago

Paspaley is all about the name. If it wasn't a Paspaley it would be cheaper. But of course she wants a Paspaley!

What is special about a Paspaley pearl? And also, Happy 30th to Sally.

I don't think there's anything *that* special about them, any more than there's anything particular special about, say, a Prada handbag. On their website they will give you a big spiel about how they are best quality pearls for this and that reason, but I think at a certain point, the quality plateaus and you start paying for a name. They are big in places like Dubai, so they've managed to crack that market with the ultra-rich where people are willing to do that.

Obviously I'm not buying anything in that league (the stuff on their website listed as P.O.A), but Sally's always been looking wistfully at their website ever since I've known her. She doesn't expect she'll ever get one, but it is a special occasion so I wanted to surprise her. :)

They do make some truly beautiful pieces though. And thanks - I will pass your birthday wishes on to her. :)
