"I have invented a giant 'laser'"

Oct 17, 2007 00:01

I was talking to Allan online tonight, telling him how in two weeks, I was going to be having fun with some Valium, when it suddenly occured to me - he had no clue what I was talking about. The reason he had no clue was because I only *thought* I had posted an entry about my upcoming surgery. I hadn't actually written it, though, and thus, no one ( Read more... )

Whoa, this lets you see underwater too? Holy crap, I've got 20/20 vision and I can't see underwater! Maybe I should join you on this, it seems kind of cool

Well, I'm not supposed to open my eyes underwater because supposedly, my contacts will come out and float away. That's an urban myth, but when I do open my eyes underwater, I can't see a darn thing. I remember when I was younger, I could open my eyes underwater and at least make out shapes and people. At the very least, I'll be able to see above water...which means if I'm ever swimming with you and Maria, I'd finally be able to tell which is which.

Best of luck, I'm way too scared to try it, as is my boyfriend. My ex is contemplating it, however.

It's actually completely safe the way it's done these days. The doctor I'm seeing has been in this business 17 years and hasn't had one patient with complications - ever.

What you mean is, none of his patients has undergone surgery and complained about it, eh? Laser tongue surgery is hardcore too.

Wow, that's super-exciting! I would LOVE to have that, but I'm not a candidate with the state of my eyes. I need a lens transplant. When Jason's a lawyer, that's what I'm getting. Your surgery will probably be like mine was last tear when I needed a laser procedure for macular degeneration (although I sat upright, looked into a machine, and didn't have any painkillers, so yours is probably way different, actually.) It was scary as heck keeping my eyes open thinking about if I move at all the laser will blind me. But it was very easy otherwise. Good luck with that -- and email me about what everybody is doing for Corky's party! (next week ::gasp::)

Man, that's such a Maria statement. "Your surgery will probably be like mine...although I sat upright, looked into a machine, and didn't have any painkillers, so yours is probably way different, actually." I miss hearing those little Maria-isms.

I'll let you know what's going on as soon as I know something - you know how trying to plan with Allan is!
