Never a break

I am so pissed off right now. To start with, my money - all of it - is nearly gone. I've had to keep dipping into my savings to pay for bills, since I'm making a lot less money now that I'm part-time. Finding a second job - or a whole new job - is not going well at all. I've been babysitting to make some extra money, but those jobs are few and ( Read more... )

I am so sorry to hear that you are struggling. My work environment has become so impossible to bear, but I'm holding on because I have no savings and nowhere to go. It really can take months to find a job, and I just started last month, so I know not to get my hopes up.

Have you used http://cleveland.craigslist.org/ to search? It's worth a shot if you have not done so.

Best of luck, and hold in there.

Thanks for the support & ideas. Yes, I've looked on craigslist - I've looked everywhere. I keep finding jobs that I think I'm qualified for and that I would really enjoy, but I'm just not getting any responses. It's just been such a long time that I'm really starting to lose my optimism.

Job searching is a soul-crushing and confidence-demolishing activity. I'm sorry for your struggles. Are you looking for a job in your field, or are you open to other ideas? If you could get a job waiting tables or working as a hostess at a high end restaurant (not like, IHOP), you could probably make some good cash.

Another idea? My boss at work is pulling in some extra money by offering her services reading college admission essays and editing college-level papers on Craig's List. It might be worth a shot.

(I know it's no consolation but if you lived in North Texas I would totally hire you on to help with our education programs...)

It's not so much that I want to stick to my field - I'm up for pretty much any job that I wouldn't hate. Hostessing & waitressing so does NOT fall into that category. If I wanted to, I could very easily go back to full-time at work. As it is, I think that I might see if I can up my hours at work, not all the way back up to full-time but more than I'm doing now.

And hey, knowing that ANYBODY would be willing to hire me is a consolation :o)
