How many musical/musical movie soundtracks do you own, and what are your top ten favorites? Disney doesn't count.

Top Ten (this week). Yep, there's at least one meaningful story associated with every musical I own, but I won't bore you with them all. Not enough room here for them anyway.

1. Phantom of the Opera. "Did I not instruct that Box Five was to be kept EMPTY?!" Ah, the Phantom tantrums. Phantom will always hold a special place in my heart for being the first musical I ever saw live. It was such a magical night that I was hooked on musicals for life. Now that I think of it, The Phantom should be added to my list of favorite villains.

2. Secret Garden. When I first borrowed the tape from the library, I popped it into my car's tape player, intending to listen on the way home. Instead, I sat spellbound in the parking lot for an hour.

3. Kiss of the Spiderwoman
4. Rent
5. Porgy and Bess
6. Miss Saigon
7. Chess
8. West Side Story
9. Jekyll and Hyde
10. Two by Two (tee-hee)

More proof of my dubious taste in movies: I have only seen half the movies on Time's 100 Best Movies List, and half of those wouldn't be on my top 100 list. Someday I really will have to rent Blade Runner again, to discover what all the hype is supposed to be about.
