Yes, I was compelled to iron that wrinkle out of "mis'rable." I'm afraid that's one of the many unavoidable consequences of being an English professor's offspring. ;) For whatever reason, I have always preferred this quote from the song's opening to the more popular lines:

so somewhere in my youth or childhood
