So... last night I rewatched North & South in its entirety, which I haven't done for months, and man, I forgot how much I love that miniseries. More importantly, I forgot how much Richard Armitage makes me swoon with the smallest quirk of an eyebrow. Seriously, I could feel my insides melting every time he looked at Margaret with that pained, "I'm in love with her but she'd never have me" look. And then I actually cried happy tears at the end when he's like this precious little boy, all innocent and happy looking (well... until he frenches Margaret in public. That wasn't so innocent. But that did other things to me). But yeah, the fact that the man can still make me cry after seeing the same scene more than 20 times is a testament to how deeply he makes you feel for him.
Anyway, that kind of rekindled my passion for Richard, so tonight I decided to watch Robin Hood since I never actually finished series 1, and I got to the Tattoo episode, and OH MY GOD! OMG! I knew it was kinky from the picspams, but I didn't quite know HOW kinky it actually was. You have no idea how huge of a smile I had on my face through the entire Guy-tied-up-in-the-woods scene. It was pretty much foreplay between Guy and Robin. And then their fist fight was the love scene, complete with romantic music. If Robin was a woman, you know that would have been hate!sex instead of a fist fight.
Now that's the look of a man who enjoys being tied to a tree and getting the crap beat out of him. And, come on, Guy's like... a foot taller than Robin. There's no way Guy would be so easily beaten by a puny emo half-bearded freak in a hoodie. He wanted to get tied up. You know it.
Oh, the tenderness kills me. KILLS ME! Guy is weakened by the sword at his throat, so he is literally placing his life in Robin's hands, and obviously he's happy to do so. And he has so much faith in Robin's goodness that he doesn't even fathom that Robin wants to kill him, despite the cold blade nipping at his neck. And Robin totally wants to kiss him. Who wouldn't?
Robin settles for tying Guy to a tree so that he can have his way with him. Guy's enjoying every minute of it.
Notice how his intense gaze never leaves Robin, despite all the distraction from the dudes telling Robin that he can't kill Guy. For Guy, the only people that exist in that moment are him and Robin, and he is soaking in every single word that Robin says, every movement, any weakness he can detect... it's all about Robin. And then Little John does what I've been wanting to do from the first episode: he hits Robin in the head and knocks him out, and FINALLY we get a break from all of his emo whining. I've never loved Little John more than in that moment. *hugs Little John* But later, when Robin wakes up? And he manipulates Much into untying him?
The first thing he does is run over to Guy. And not only does he sprint to Guy, he rips the gag off of Guy's mouth in a frenzy and pushes him harder against the tree.
Oh, he likes it.
He really likes it.
And then Robin throws the knife at him, tantalizing him, almost bringing him to a climax.
Come on. COME ON! How can I not glean sexual subtext from this? A long shaft with a hot tip, Guy's vulnerability finally starting to appear, the intense looks, Guy being so near a climax he's ready to burst...
Much watching the whole ordeal and being horrified yet incredibly jealous.
Guy getting off on Robin's relationship woes with Much, which is bringing him even closer to a climax. And then SWOOSH!
Robin cuts him loose. And it's time for the real deal. The foreplay is over, baby.
Well, first Guy has to get in some sex talk and calls Robin the Lord of the Dance.
Then they get down to business.
(Charlie likes to watch)
And they're both fighting to catch their breath and savoring the moment by gazing into each other's eyes.
And then Guy comes to his senses and he's like, "Ick. What am I doing with this emo half-bearded freak in a hoodie? I'm supposed to be in love with Marian." And Robin is all, "I'm going to tell Marian that you're a trader." And Guy is like, "Pah, she loves me. She'll never leave me. And shut up, I am so NOT delusional." And Robin is like, "She's astute, biyatch, she'll figure it out."
And Guy goes, "Oh... you're right. Say, do you wanna shag again?" And Robin's like, "Sure, I've got nothing better to do."
And they ended up shagging each other senseless.
That's exactly how it happened. No lie.
Anyway, this entire episode was made of so much win. I love the Sheriff so very, very much. He gets all the greatest lines. I love Guy/Marian a lot, but I think I'm even more fond of the Sheriff/Guy relationship (in a strictly platonic way, mind you. I'm not quite sure what the Sheriff's kinks are. I can't tell if he likes women or men, or both, or none. He's a hard one to figure out). But yeah, I'm baffled as to why it's taken me so long to get back to watching this show. That's why I shouldn't read spoilers. Once I read the spoiler about Marian, I suddenly lost my craving to watch the show. But now I'm in a Richard Armitage mood, so... I predict I'll get through it by the end of the week.
I feel like I'm cheating on Damian.
Ahh, that's better. Don't worry Damian, you're still my main man. Richard's just a harmless flirtation... that's been going on for 3 years or so.
