I fail. I was going to do a Giles spam, but instead spent my night serenading
15lbpurebunny and reading Uther/Morgana porn. And watching Life. I'M SORRY, GILES! YOUR BADASS SELF WILL HAVE TO WAIT FOR TOMORROW!
I just want to get Life out of the way first. Again, it was an enjoyable ep, but I'm just not as invested in this season as I was the first one. I'm actually a little embarrassed for professing how amazing this show is, because it hasn't been super amazing in awhile. I kept thinking it was just a slump that they'd get over, but ugh. I miss my show. On the other hand, we got a lot of Crews/Reese goodness, and that makes me very, very happy.
1. Reese prancing around in her underwear. Do not need. She was never a prancer. She was a get out of bed naked after a one-night-stand kind of gal. Now she's all, "Let me dance around in my panties and suck on a lollipop, teehee!" But she still managed to insert some badassness into it, so I guess I'm cool with it. Also, were those the panties that Crews bought her in Black Friday? ARE THEY? Because if they are, then that makes the Crews/Tidwell panties phone call even more awkward. And awesome.
2. CREWS AND REESE IN A HOTEL ROOM TOGETHER HOLY CRAP! CREWS BEING UNCOMFORTABLE WHILE SHE TAKES A BATH!!! This season is definitely the "Charlie figures out that Reese has lady parts" season. And her lady parts make him uncomfortable because he doesn't like thinking of her like that. And he doesn't like other people thinking of her like that either. And he found out that Reese "indulges" herself all the time. AND REESE KICKED HIM OUT OF THE ROOM, BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA. Oh, poor Charlie.
3. So, I used to like Reese/Tidwell, but now it's hit the skeezy level for me. When Reese was resisting and he was slowly chipping away at her shell, I liked it. But now they've just jumped into bed without any real development, and it's pretty gross. And she made him cut his hair, and I liked his hair. I LIKED HIS HAIR, OKAY? SO SUE ME! It fit his character. Now he has short hair and it just doesn't look right. Anyway, I do like that Reese/Tidwell is affecting Crews/Reese. It's definitely a big proponent in Charlie seeing Dani as a woman rather than just his partner, and it's freaking him out to see her acting happy. Plus, it's awkward for him at the station.
4. Another cliffhanger. WHAT THE EFFING HELL, MAN? STOP IT!
5. The solving of the case was a little too cryptic. I was desperately confused and spent the whole commercial break trying to figure out what was going on, and when it came back, I was still confused. But... I take it that the victim was the girl's father and not the dude that killed him? I don't know. All the "no, he didn't have a daughter, but you did" confused me. So, was she or wasn't she the victim's daughter? Or is she someone else completely? What the hell, man, stop being fancy and just give us some straight answers.
6. Charlie can see dead people now? WHAT THE FUCK? WHAT ARE THESE WRITERS SMOKING?
7. Damian was hot. Really, really hot. And his pants were mighty expressive tonight.
8. I know it sounds like I didn't like this ep, but I DID like it. Really, I did. It just wasn't great. But it entertained me, and I guess that's what I've relegated this show to now. Pure entertainment. It used to draw me into every aspect and it made me think and analyze every little detail, but now it's just kind of... on my TV. And Damian pleases my eyes.
Anyway, tonight I was reading
4thderevko's
latest installment of her Uther/Morgana fic, and it made me watch episode 6 again. I remember in my original watch, I didn't like this ep as much as the others, but on rewatch, I realized that it had monumental amounts of Uther/Morgana. Yes, it was more of an Uther/Gaius ep and it laid the subtext for them being the older version of Arthur/Merlin, but Uther was freaking out in this episode simply because he came so close to losing Morgana, and the only reason why he even contemplated letting Gaius go was because of his utter fear of losing Morgana, and this fear completely blinded him to the fact that Edwin was untrustworthy. Morgana is quite possibly Uther's greatest weakness, and this ep showed that beautifully. He was absolutely devastated when she was sick, and he was at her bedside CONSTANTLY, always giving her tortured looks, and he was pretty much incapable of making any decisions, so Arthur took charge. I mean, man, you really see how much Uther loves her in this episode.
This is obviously the ultimate form of Uther love. HE TOOK HIS GLOVE OFF TO CARESS HER HAND! HE NEEDED THAT CONNECTION! In the very next shot, once he's off the bed, his glove is back on. And he is seriously, seriously freaking out to Gaius. Ooooh, I love him SO MUCH for being so scared. And then when Morgana is cured:
He is spazzing out. He's having SO MUCH trouble containing his happiness and he's basically going up to everyone and saying, "OMG SHE'S AWAKE!!! DO YOU SEE HER? OMG, MORGANA I LOVE YOU!" Only... well, he doesn't say that. It's more like, "This is a miracle! She's... I thought... I..." Repressed emotions. Hmph. But not too repressed:
He kisses her forehead in absolute relief and glee, and he holds onto her hand as she says her comment about not getting rid of her that easily, and he really doesn't want to leave her side. I love how she knew what he was going to say, and I love that all of his emotion is put into that one little innocent kiss. This is definitely the most fatherly he's ever been to her (and probably their most chaste moment, because usually there's sexual tension galore, although, technically, since neither one of them had eyes for anyone else in this scene, it could be interpreted otherwise).
Pretty self-explanatory. There was A LOT of hand-touching in this ep. With and without gloves. I'm pretty sure this is the only ep where Uther was seen without gloves. I could be wrong though.
He just looks all pretty and kingy here. *dreamy sigh*
Look at how they're leaning towards each other. THEY HAD TO BE CLOSE TO EACH OTHER AT EVERY WAKING MOMENT! THEY FEARED NEVER SEEING EACH OTHER AGAIN AND NOW CAN'T EVEN SIT TOO FAR APART! EPIC! THEIR LOVE! IT'S FREAKING EPIC!
Morgana very pointedly looks at Uther's lips after he tells her that he can't risk losing her again, even if that means replacing Gaius. THIS WAS HUGE! HUGE!!! And Morgana can't argue because she's touched but he's being stubborn and that annoys her BUT HE'S ACCIDENTALLY REVEALING HIS LOVE FOR HER AND SHE CANNOT RESIST!
Oh, these two. They are hopeless. Doomed for all eternity. Morgana is sure to be the death of Uther in one way or another, especially since this ep and ep 8 emphasize how much of a weakness he has for her. Even when he's being all forceful and brutish with her in ep 8 and threatening her, you can see the hardness disappear for just the slightest second and you can tell that he wouldn't be able to go through with it, and you can see in Morgana a defiant need to test him to his limits and beyond, and she's pretty confident she'd win (although you can see fear in her too, because Uther is ruthless, and he had basically told her that she wasn't his own blood, therefore he'd have no problem killing her). Gah, this ship. It plagues my mind. So let's close on this note:
