Denny!

Remember how weeks ago (possibly months ago) I said that with Boston Legal absence makes the heart grow fonder?  I WAS RIGHT!!!!  OMG!  It was SO good to have my Boston Legal back.  Not sure how many eps are left though, probably only 1.  Anyway, this episode was so incredibly good from start to finish.  It was Denny focused, which always makes me happy.  And Jerry was the B-plot focus, which makes me even happier, because I got my Denny and my Jerry all in one episode.

Anyway, Alan/Denny (can't talk about this show without focusing on this beautiful relationship).  A whole lot of angst for them tonight, but it was SO GOOD!  Denny refusing to let Alan help him with the case, Alan wanting to protect him and saying some very hurtful things and Denny knowing without doubt that it came from a place of love, Alan saying that he didn't want to see Denny get hurt, Denny telling him to stay away from the case, Alan showing up in a beret and a mustache and looking like a French painter thinking that was a good enough disguise, Alan being impressed with Denny and then desperately wanting to help him with his closing but not pushing too hard and knowing just what Denny needed, Alan's proud smile after Denny's closing, their balcony moment (these are always good) where Denny emphasized that Alan was his best friend, neither one of them wanting the day to end.  GAH!  I LOVE IT!!!  Seriously, these two make my heart sing.  Craziness.

Aside from the lovely Alan/Denny moments, I loved seeing Denny succeed on his own.  I loved that he got to have one last glorious moment of victory, and he learned that the great lawyer he used to be is still inside him.  The game isn't over for him yet.  Oh, his happiness at the end made me cry.  He was so very proud of himself, and he hasn't been proud of himself since... ever.  Not during the run of the show, anyway.  He's always been mad at himself for being the shell of the man he used to be and everyone thinking that he was nuts.  BUT HE PROVED THEM ALL WRONG!  Denny Crane's still got game.  Oh, that moment where he teared up killed me.  This whole episode left me with a huge smile and a warm heart.

Also, Jerry?  Jerry was awesome.  As always.  I love this growing confidence that he gets with each new episode.  And I think Katie just might be his soulmate.  It's amazing how completely comfortable he is around her, especially when you compare it to their interactions from earlier in the season.  She just knows how to inspire him, and she's not afraid to call him out when he's being cowardly, and she does it in a much nicer way than Alan used to.  And she's not afraid to be goofy with him.  I do find her constant kindness a bit annoying though, to be honest.  But I've gotten used to it.  Her feisty moments have made her more well rounded.  But she's fiesty while still being polite.  Anyway, she's so incredibly patient, and I think she just may be falling for Jerry.  Maybe.  I kept hoping for a little bit of jealousy on her part over Jerry being dazzled by the other British chick that Alan is in love with.  But sadly, no luck there.  But they have a beautiful friendship.  Not as beautiful as Alan/Denny though.

ETA: OMG!  Am watching Colbert and he was just at the National Portrait Gallery and HIS PORTRAIT WILL BE UP FOR SIX WEEKS!!!!  Bastard!  If only I still lived by DC.  I remember taking a field trip there in middle school.  Didn't remember until they showed that portrait of George Washington.  I WAS THERE!  I STOOD IN THE SAME PLACE AS STEPHEN COLBERT!!!!  About 13 years ago, but still.  I remember having to write a report about those president portraits.
