The first time you listen to Lou Reed's solo music you should not be alone at your desk with a glass of milk and a bacon sandwich wondering if you'll ever be able to work things out with your girlfriend. It should be done on your living room couch with your girlfriend present while you share a bottle of wine and eat bread drizzled with olive oil

Wrong, you should be on your couch with a bottle of scotch and a bacon sandwich.

I tried to develop a taste for scotch several years ago, and while I did learn to distinguish a variety of flavours, I never actually learned to like it (or any other kind of whisky).

Tonight finds me with another bacon sandwich and more Lou Reed, but this time it's a cup of vanilla tea.
