Cold Fish

So several of the my college mates had come into town this past weekend for a true Minnesota experience: Ice fishing. It is strange because none of us are what you would call avid fisherman, but it seemed like a good excuse to get together. There were ten of us total. Were you the only one who even tried to actually fish, or just the only one who succeeded?

Sounds like a good time. Shame I had to miss it. (Though, in retrospect, it probably was a good thing I didn't plan to go, because this week and last week have been THE HAMMER at work. Taking the weekend out of town would have been unwise.)

In ice fishing, the rods are generally of the set-it-and-leave-it-alone variety. Our good Mr. Tie was simply the guy who hauled the fish out of the holes after the rattle reels went off. I'm still insisting that I get credit for two of the fish, since I'm the one who baited those particular hooks.

Maybe an assist, chief, but I'm pretty sure that as a rule, credit goes to he who removes the fish from the water.

Did you all eat what you caught, or no?

Strictly catch-and-release. A single walleye split seven ways would be kind of silly.
