It has been a while since my last substantial post. It isn't for the lack of things going on, as my activity level has been pegged in the "Determined Trot" area for the last few weeks. So before I lose touch with my adoring audience, I'll give a bit of an update herein:
Fencing
Still doing more administrating than stabbinating. From a tournament aspect, we are on hiatus for about a month, then one tournament and then the local season will finish up. From a club aspect, my weapons have been a little temperamental and I finally located the issue. However, I have not had the material to repair them and thus makes it difficult to work up the energy to get down to the club. Needless to say, I am starting to feel a little out of shape.
Hockey
With some of my fencing nights opened up, I have been seeing a lot more of the Wild play. They've been on a good tear and were in serious competition for the Division Championship. And since then they have coughed up three games and buried themselves in the standings with only three games left. Squid, Lemur and I were at one of those games... where the Flames managed to score TWO goals in TWO shots within the first TWO minutes of the puck dropping. Enough to make any fan proud.
Squid and I have secured some playoff tickets though. Nothing matches the feeling of watching your home team drop a playoff game. We are looking forward to it.
Music
Lessons are going well. I have hit a stage where I am truly out of my depth. Some of the initial study I had done before I took lessons helped me keep along as the instructor was moving. I am now in uncharted waters. The practice is still going well though. I have noted that my hands are much more fluid even though I can't quite make the mode changes smoothly. It will come in time, I am sure. I have been meaning to play by ear to music again but haven't found the extra time to do so yet. I have also been trying to put together a little set of things I have been working on so that you dear people can suffer for my art. Once I work out a couple of things, there will be a post forthcoming.
Misc.
Last week, my stepmother was in town on a business trip. We got together the night she came in for dinner and hit a tapas bar in my old stomping grounds. It turns out it was a different place that Squid took his folks recently... but their excursion was the inspiration for our choice. Good stuff, tapas. Between the two of us, we barely made it through three different dishes. I will have to manufacture a series of excuses to go back and eat through the rest of the menu.
